| Finding out Your Learning Skills | ||||||||||||||
| There are ways to know how you learn. There are questionnaires called the HBDI and the VARK, which help you discover your learning styles throughout your school and everyday life. | ||||||||||||||
| According to the HBDI my learning strengths are doing. Doing learners take action, learn well from factual and practical information. I find it easy to have hands on work and to be instructed flexible rules. I like to figure stuff out on my own. I find it easier if my instructors are warm, caring and who value others opinion and feelings. I use at my job when I make sandwiches without having someone showing how It's done I just watch. My next learning strengths was feeling. Feelings learners analyze by asking questions that begin with why and who? I use feeling learning styles when I'm in school I may ask the teacher who is the topic about and why did it happen? My lowest is thinking. Thinking learners uses facts and serious conclusions. | ||||||||||||||
| According to my VARK my learning strengths are kinesthetic. I find it easy to be taught on flow charts, having open discussions, by viewing photos and videos. I prefer to have information explained directly to me so I can have a better understanding. I sometimes test myself by reading out loud. I also have a good memory of things taught in school and at home. I often relate some of the things I learn to my own experiences. My second highest was aural. Aural learner listen to what is being taught without watching what is done. I use my aural skills at home when my mother asks me to do something or is trying to teach me something. I would listen clearly to what was discussed. My next one is visual. I love getting instructions from textbooks and other reading sources. | ||||||||||||||
| ������� In my class our websites were shown with examples. By using the smart board in class by Mr. D it helps me see my mistakes. At my job I would watch everybody doing something that I don't know about and when I try to do it I has a better understanding of how It's done. Before writing I ponder on what the essay should be like and how It's done and my study skills professor gives me the motivation to keep going instead of giving up. He would use the projector to correct our papers. By discovering new opportunities by having us interview or do an observation of someone and looking on the website and get a better understanding of our future career. | ||||||||||||||
| ������� My reading teacher uses a projector to give us lessons. Also have us in computer labs to understand our vocabulary better. We make note cards to keep track of the meaning and how to use it in a sentence. We did news weeks to visualize what is happening in the world today. And we used questionnaires to answer things we have read for the book. We did main idea tests to figure out how to pick out where the main idea maybe in the passage. Now at my job I use some of the words I learned while talking to older people. | ||||||||||||||
| The VARK and HBDI helped me discover my learning styles. And also I learned the teaching styles of my teachers so it would be easier for me to understand. While doing this I saw that all my professors have different ways of teaching. And they all seemed to help me in various ways. | ||||||||||||||
