BAND OF THE MONTH: RELIENT k - This band is a fairly new one. They were just signed under Gotee Records and seem to be the booming record companies favorite new artist. Relient K have a wide variety of punk rock songs. Most of the songs are humorous, keeping with the traditional punk style. Some of their songs, however, are serious with a deep meaning. This band has what it takes to make it big; that's no question. They have the occasional poppy sound, which could get them into the radio's rotation, and have a serious side with a message that will be heard and bring them respect as artists.

One song, in particular, is a favorite among a lot of fans. 'My Girlfriend' has a catchy tune and funny lyrics that will stick in your brain. The song is about Marylin Manson eating the singer's girlfriend.

A lot of Relient K's songs have off the wall subjects such as 'My Girlfriend,' but have a meaning that is waiting to be revealed. In addition to this, the band plays an awesome live show. During their shows you would hear a sound that isn't worse then on their CD, like a lot of band's performances. And if your lucky you will see a band member dressed in a giant chicken costume. We saw the band live during Creation West 2000 and they have an energy on stage that will make you a fan.
