| Off in the distance, Just out of my reach, A sparkle of red, A flash of sharp teeth. At first I am frightened, Taken aback. What if this creature Decides to attack? But then that sweet mouth, Once tense in a scowl, wickedly grins And I smile back! This malicious attacker, This thief in the night, Is mischievous Dragonfairy Causing a fright. She lands on my hand, About as big as my palm. Her bright red fingerclaws sink in my arm. She folds up her wings Of crimson fyre, And with a wink of an impish eye, Off she takes to the skye. With laughter trilling behind, I'm left to wonder, Will she ever be mine? |
