I Wrote You a Poem

A girl wrote a song to her mom,
it was her birthday, you know
it was so sweet, I promised myself
to write you a poem, as well...

When the world turns its back on me,
you are the wall which I can lean on.
You are my release in times of crying,
with just a hug, you ease my pain.

You are the song,
that echoes through my lonely nights,
your voice is the lullaby,
that calms me on such restless nights.

Mother, thank you for being you,
for standing by all the time,
for never judging me for my mistakes,
you know your silence says so much more.

Thank you for taking me in your arms
and for loving me wholly,
for embracing my imperfections...
in doing these, I've learned to love myself.

There...I guess I've said it all,
I may never tell you these things a lot,
still I hope you could read my heart,
through this poem, that I wrote for you.
