Mother

And when she turned to smile
I knew what truth was told
I knew that unconditionally
her love was brave and bold.

I knew the nights she tucked me in
her "cheery little chipmunk" bright
that no matter what I did in life,
she would always think me right.

And when she held my newborn son
her eyes all misty green,
that never could there be a Mom
more loving than mine has been.

I knew when troubles rocked my world
and her comforting words were there
that Mom would be the one I'd call
when my life gave things to share.

And when Mother's Day came again this year
I thought of all she's done
and remembered all she is to me
with a love compared to none.
