Daddy's Angel

Hold me daddy, she would say, as she
set upon his knee, can I chase that star.
Her words would ring, let me catch a fallen
star to put in my pocket, heaven is very far.

Daddy, please get me one star, it can be my
light, to guide me through the darkest night.
Her eye's would sparkle, as she fell asleep,
only one star twinkles until dawn's light.

Daddy, can I yell at the man in the moon,
do I hear angels singing, or is it an echo?
Let me dance upon a big white cloud, let me
chase my dreams, will it rain a drop or two?

She's is his only daughter, that holds his love,
she would always be daddy's sweet little girl.
An angel in his sight, she has a lot of plans,
but she is not ready to tackle a woman's world.

There's so many dreams that she wants to hang
on to, trying to be lady like and all grownup.
Her days of lace and bows are in her past,
remembering the stars at night as she looks up.
