Name: Maylin Belden
Meaning: Great Waterfall From The Fair Valley
Birthday & Zodiac: February 24, Pisces
Age: 16
Appearance: She has long, wavy turquoise-blue hair, down to her hip, medium-toned skin, and dark purple eyes. She is medium height and a bit on the thin side. She wears loose, simple clothing and studs if she bothers to wear earrings. Her wardrobe is mostly cool colors (green, blue, and purple) and nothing that’s terribly formal. She has one formal dress, but only wears it on the rare occasions when she has to. She usually is seen in a sort of disorder, her hair a mess and her clothes hastily thrown on.
Personality: Maylin is a caring person who often seems to let her life slide into the slow lane. She slacks off on a lot, tending to sit in front of a TV or a computer rather than do something constructive, such as her homework. She tries to lie in bed as long as possible. She’s lazy but when she gets on track to do something, she works and works. Then takes a break and usually never gets back to it. She is also somewhat hydrophobic (afraid of water). She enjoys classical music.

Status: Unpopular for her somewhat raggedy appearance and gets low to average grades. She also is disliked for her inability to keep up with the trends, or downright refusal to.
Love life: She has a crush on a guy that she made up. His name is Aislinn Enos, meaning “A Dream Man.” His hair is a platinum blonde, complimenting his blue-green eyes nicely. He is kind and gentlemanly. He’s the perfect guy in many respects.
NPCs: Brooke Belden, mother of Maylin.
Black hair frames Brooke’s deeply tanned face. She has shockingly
bright blue eyes and a slender figure. She looks almost Native American,
but she isn’t. She is usually calm, but when she gets mad, she erupts
in a full and utter rage that no one can calm quickly. Maylin was
sometimes shocked into working on something because of her mother’s yelling.
As Brooke’s children got older, she began to understand them much better.
Now that Maylin is at Isis Academy, Brooke seems to be much calmer.
Maylin and Brooke were always close. She inherited the fortune that
allows her family to be rich. She lived a luxurious life and some
days just doesn’t want to any more, in which case she drives somewhere.
She always comes back, though.
Oren Belden, father of Maylin.
A plump man with pale skin and short indigo hair is one of the people who
Maylin looks up to. Much like his daughter, a man who sits in the
chair in front of the TV or computer until he’s called/yelled at to do
something, finds life as a fun and serious experience. He shares
humor with his daughters along with seriousness and intelligence.
He knew that his children always needed a good education and that’s one
of the reasons she is going to Isis. He lived on somewhat lenient
education and wishes to see his children get a better one.
Leilani Belden, older sister of
Maylin. 22 years old, Leilani lives apart from the rest of the family.
Leilani was usually a kind older sister, but they sometimes did have those
sibling rivalries. Her appearance takes more after her mother.
She has deeply tanned skin, a little bit darker than her mother has, and
dark purply-black hair. She has green eyes and always keeps track
of her studies and is usually serious.
Arlo and Lyde Belden: The twin younger
brothers of Maylin, both 8 years old. They are nearly identical,
but there is one thing that makes Arlo and Lyde different. Arlo has
near-black eyes where as Lyde has deep blue. Many still can’t see
the difference, but if you live with them, you notice. They both
have indigo hair like their father and tanned skin like their mother.
They are most commonly seen bickering with one another and... Well, they’re
always fighting with each other.
Friends: Dalila Noam -- one
of Maylin’s best friends. They have been friends ever since either
of them can remember. Dalila has chocolate colored skin and ever-smiling
brown-black eyes. Her hair is jet black and smooth and straight and
is often braided down to her shoulders in millions of tiny braids.
She is always cheering Maylin up with her smile whenever she’s down.
She is more focused than her friend and tries to get Maylin the same way.
But she always seems to fail. She always keeps on smiling, though.
Yeva Nixie -- another of Maylin’s
close friends. She is pale toned with blue eyes and darkened gold
hair. She keeps a watchful eye and is always glad to see her friends.
She is often seen with an unemotional face, staring into the abyss of space.
She is smart and enjoys making her friends happy and such.
History: On Indus: Carina
lived a fairly good life before. She was kind and caring as she is
now, but she loved the water. She loved to play in it and be near
it. Her family had lived by the sea. Carina became a seasoned
sailor. She was more than happy to go to keep the universe at peace.
Even though she had to leave her wonderful spot by the sea, it would always
stay in her heart. She became the senshi of water, the sea always
staying with her as she fought and helping her along the way. She
gave her life in hope of many better ones, including one of her own.
On Earth: Born into a rich, caring
and loving family, Maylin lived a good life. She never liked water
for some reason. She was always afraid it would hurt her somehow.
She avoided baths, but eventually got used to them... a little.
She dislikes swimming, one of her friends’ favorite past times. She
always went to the best schools (usually private) and still didn’t turn
out to be a snob, because of her parents teaching not to be like the rest
of the people in her school because she’d turn out rotten. She found
that she didn’t like the things that most of the other kids did, but it
was fine to her, she was taught to be different from the other children
anyway. She still managed to make good and close friends. Maylin
didn’t like writing when she was little, but Yeva showed her how much fun
it is and she writes nearly everyday now. Dalila always tried to
keep a smile on Maylin’s frowning face and she has succeeded to a majority
of the time. Maylin’s friends always kept her busy with new things
to show her that were fun. Now she’s learned that she likes imagination
the most. That’s why she writes and daydreams so much.
Henshin: “Carina Golden Star Make-Up!” She holds her hand up and calls out the phrase. Her henshin wand appears, and as she reaches for it and holds it, the background turns into a bluish light. It engulfs her and her body becomes almost encased in it. A pipe of water flows into her chest and forms the star. Small waves flow out from the star and form her bow. Her scarf flows as water out from the star as well, the bodice and puffs under the scarf appear in a flash of blue light. Her face is lit up in blue light as her choker and tiara appear. She crosses her arms over her chest and leans her head down as the skirt flows from the roll at the end of the bodice. The over-skirt then rolls out from the bodice roll. Another wave of water flows over her legs and forms her boots. She lifts her left leg and spins, then puts it back down in front of her as she throws her arms out and then puts her right hand on her hip and her left out pointing a finger while winking.
Fuku: Nearly invisible chain with a light blue teardrop in the middle that serves as Carina’s tiara. Her choker is much the same. Her scarf is light blue as is her bow. Instead of a normal broach, Carina has a purple, five-pointed star. She has a white bodice and roll at the end. Under her scarf are three puffs of white fabric as well. Her skirt is light blue with a stripe of purple on the bottom. Over this, there is a see-through white skirt. Her boots come from right under her skirt to the last toe on her foot. They are light blue with a purple teardrop around the middle of Carina’s thigh. Her gloves are turquoise with the thumb; index and pinky fingers cut off, long to her elbow. She also wears turquoise earrings, a dot and then another dot hanging in mid-air and a teardrop hanging under that.
Attacks: “Carina,” She crosses her
arms, “Star,” she raises her index and middle fingers up, “Tsunami,” she
pulls her arms apart and upturns them, holding her palms up and crossing
one under the other. She raises her arms and holds her palms up.
Two balls of water levitate above her hands and she merges them into one,
her hands in a V-shape, lowered in front of her face. She turns her
hands out and the water rushes out from them, hitting her target.
If she spins while she’s doing the attack, it can hit more than one person,
but it loses a bit of its strength. It can be used more than once;
it’s her main attack.
“Carina,” she folds her hands and
leans her head down, as if in prayer. “Star,” Sailor Carina looks
back up, hands still folded, eyes pleading. “Rain!” she pulls her hands
apart and raises them to the sky as a few drops begin to fall on her.
The rain begins to get heavier and heavier and spread further around.
As the attack is finished, it closes back into just Carina and gets lighter
and lighter until it is all gone. This attack wears Carina out unless
there are very few enemies close to her. She usually needs to take
a few minutes out to recoop after this attack.
The Writing Sample: Maylin lay back
on her blue comforter of her canopy bed. She picked up a picture
from her bedside table. It was hand drawn, painted by her.
It was one of her favorite, and only portraits.
“Aislinn,” Maylin sighed.
“If only you were real. If only...” She kissed the glass underneath
which the picture lay, free of being ruined. She put his picture back on
the table and took out a journal. She took out a pen and began to
write whatever ran through her head.
“Aislinn is so handsome, sitting
there as if there was nothing in the world that mattered to him.
As If there was no danger that he must fend off, no dragons to slay, no
hatred to be slain, no danger to save a damsel from. He’s so wonderful
like that,” Carin whispered as she stared at the blonde hero.
He turned to her, his blue-green
eyes shining at Carin, as if there was something he wanted to tell her,
but wanted to hide none the less. ‘What are you thinking, my love?
And why won’t you tell me?’ she thought.
Maylin closed the blue-bound green-covered
journal. She smiled as she set it down on her bed and closed her
eyes. “Why won’t you tell me, Aislinn?” she whispered before she
drifted off into a sleep.
