In 1992, Paramounts' third Star Trek series premiered, DEEP SPACE NINE, the brainchild of THE NEXT GENERATIONs' Rick Berman and Michael Piller. The latest step towards their vision of perhaps a darker side to the Star Trek future.... a future which caused a great deal of differences of opinion amongst the Trekkers, with some loving the storylines and epic space battles and effects, and others disliking it for exactly those reasons, claiming it was too dark and downbeat. Personally, I loved it for ALL those reasons!
