GYMNASIUM AND SPORTS COMPLEX -NALANDA

 

1. Arrangements are being made to build a fully-fledged ultra modem gymnasium and sports complex at the college. Details are at annexure "A".

 

2. Approximate cost is Rs 30 million. A fund was launched at the "Colours Night" held on December 2000. OBA, JOBA, ONSC and various individuals handed over Rs 2 million ( + ) no sooner the funding was initiated.

 

3. I am requesting you to;

a.        At least obtain a life membership by contributing Rs 15,000/=.

b.        Also arrange an individual/ or an organisation to contribute Rs 100,000/= or more. Thilanga Sumathipala did inaugurate funding by contributing Rs 500,000/=, (He is expected to give Rs One million). I am sure you must be knowing at least one more "Sumathipala" in your bracket.

 

4. I thought of targeting all the serving officers in the SLA, SLN and SLAP as we have at least 150. Hence we should be able to partake in this venture by contributing Rs 15,000x 150 = 22.250.000.

 

5. I kindly request Group Captain Gagan Bulathsinghala to coordinate the officers in the SLAF and Captain Navan Tennakoon to pursue the SLN officers to get involve in this venture.

 

6. You are kindly requested to send your cheque as indicated in the annexure " A ". y ou are also requested to contact Major Darshana Liyange who has kindly offered his services to coordinate our effort. He is at;

7. Not only Royal and Ananda, even Thurstan, Isipathane and DS have leapt forward. Therefore it is imperative that certain basic infrastructure facilities should be made available in school to be made not equal but superior to others.

 

8. As an individual you may have been out of touch with Nalanda due to exigencies of service or personal reasons. I am making this personal appeal you to shed the grey areas and come out of the shell. We all have gained a lot through Nalanda.

 

9. A list of SLA officers is attached as annexure "B". Please indicate any omissions. Request SLN and SLAP details be submitted to Major Darshana Liyanage asp please.
