The Diary of 2000.  

Madura was promoted to the rank of Brigadier.

Newsletters published during the year. (August.)

 Following Classmates living abroad paid a visit.

1 Kitsiri for his father's funeral.

2 Sisira Chandrasekara, KKI Perera, PKKD Perera and Sumedha Dharmasena during August.

We were able to organize following events.

1. Donated a sum of Rs. 25,000/= on the eve of 2nd day of big match to the widow of Dearest Wickremarachchi, at the Villa Palm, Wattala, which was collected amongst the membership.

2. A mini get-together automatically sprang up when Sisira Chandrasekara, KKI Perera and PKKD Perera hosted those who attended for dinner at Bloomfield CC.  Drinks by those who attended.

3. A 7 day bodhi pooja was arranged to bless the members and their families at the Sri Dharma Vihara, Maharagama commencing on the poya day of August.  Most Ven. Kotmale Amarawansa, the chief incumbent, once teacher for the group at Nalanda, blessed all his past pupils and their families ‘health, wealth and prosperity and ordered every body should attended nirvana’.

With much sympathy we announce the deaths of the following...

1. Father of Seneth Samaranayaka.

2. Father of Kitsiri de Silva.

3. Father of Gamini Siriwardana

4. Father of Ranjan Munasinghe (Koti Munaya)

5. Beloved wife of Dr. Prasanna Siriwardana. (He thanked all classmates for what ever they had done during this period and said he is unable to thank individually.  See photo gallery.) 

6. Mother of Ravindra Fernando.

Special Events.

1.   The group participated in 'Cricket Carnival' organised by the Old Nalandians' Sports Club which was held   during the weekend of   25/26 Nov 2000.    The group fielded three teams under Sunil Thrimavithane, Ravindra Fernando, and in both Softball and Leather ball divisions.  Vajira Edirimanne, Guthila Wickremasinghe, Wimalanatha also participated. The Chief Guest was well known cricketer Eastman Narangoda, DGM of National Savings Bank.  Old boy, Saman (de Silva) and the Clan provided music.

    (A few of those who attended may have had the opportunity to observe a past cricket stalwart - Luckshman Doolwela -  worshipping the feet of Mrs. T S Silva after the awards ceremony).

2.    OBA Silver Maroon Dinner Dance 2000 is scheduled 02nd Dec 2000 at Trans Asia Hotel 2000 hrs onwards.
