the music of my soul

Many men in suffering wander
And many men in wandering suffer
Passing away their nights and days
In idle time searching for themselves.
They forever wander in search without,
And remain forever unable to find themselves within.
Looking to hear from another
The answers to the unheard questions
Questions which echo in the lonely halls of their own minds.
But there is hope for these men.

Within the reflection of glassy eyes,
Within the self-examination of unexplained reactions,
They can find within themselves their explanations.
Their untold purpose becomes clear,
When seen within the mirror of a lover's soul.
Found not within the whispered words spoken to them,
But spoken by them.
Found not within their lover,
But within their love.
At last something solid,
A cornerstone of their life.
Their love gives them an ear within themselves.

And for those who look past,
The reflection in those eyes,
Or listen too hard for the answers in another voice,
They shall forever in wandering suffer,
While those with the wisdom to understand simplicity,
To hear the words they speak themselves,
Will find within the words the meaning that they seek,
A purpose, a wonderful cause,
And can count themselves as blessed as myself.

For within my mistress' eyes,
I see the reflection of my lips.
And as I speak in hushed tones,
I try to make my love into music,
Telling her in my humble melodies,
The wonders of that purpose,
And find within myself,
The strength to be renewed.
