Understand

Seeing you there in the distance

Just out of my grasp

My heart beats wildly, as if to torture me

Lightning crashes in my mind

Revealing old scars

You could help me if you only understood

 

Still, I see it in those cold blue eyes

A flash of internal pain

It reveals the inside of your soul

Let me protect you from the past

I wish I could calm your heartbeat

Frantic as my own

I could help you, if you'd only let me understand.
