    1. Malicious Code/ Malware
    • Definition: Which are the program that act without a user's knowledge and deliberately alter the computer operations.
    • Symptoms of Malware
      1. Files become corrupted.
      2. Screen displays unusual message or image.
      3. Available memory is less then expected.
      4. Music or unusual sound plays randomly.
      5. Programs or files do not work properly.
      6. Unknown program or files mysteriously appear.
      7. System properties change.
      8. Operating system does not start up and shut down unexpectedly.
      9. Operating system runs much slower than usual.
Three types of malware:
Computer Virus
                                                           Worm
                                          Trojan Horse
Potentially damaging computer program
that affects or infects a computer negatively by altering the way the computer works without user's knowledge or permission.

Program that copies itself repeteadly, for example in memory or network using resources and posibbly
shutting down the computer or network.
Program that hides within or looks like a legitimate program . It does not replicate itself to other computer








2.Unauthorized Access and Use
  • Definition Unauthorized Access: The use of a computer, network, file or other resources without permission.
  • Definition Unauthorized Use: The use of a computer or its data for unapproved or possibly illegal activities.











3. Hardware Theft and Vandalism

  • Definition Hardware Theft: Is the act of stealing computer equipment such as monitor.
  • Definition Hardware Vandalism: The act of defacing or destroyingcomputer equipment.









4. Software Theft
  • Main Reason its occurs when:
  1. Steals software media  2. Intentionally erases programs.  3. Illegally copies a program.  4. Ilegally registers and/or activities a program.





5. Information Theft

  • Occurs when someone steals personal or confidential information.
  • When enough obtain information about a person able to masquarade as that person usually to buy products or sevices in that person's name.







6. System Failure
  • complete malfunction a computer system.
VARIETY OF FACTORS LEAD SYSTEM FAILURE:
  1. Aging hardware: use of computer for longer periods
  2. Natural disaster: flood, fires and huricane.
  3. Electrical power problems: any voltage variation, either under voltage and overvoltage
  4. Errors in computer programs
