Coach Carra Blair began swimming competitively at age 7 at the Detroit Yacht Club, on Belle Isle in Detroit, Michigan.   As a young swimmer, she loved swimming IM, breast and backstroke.  As her parents were involved in major sailing races in the Great Lakes, they insisted their kids were strong swimmers.   Detroit Yacht Club had a year round, strong AAU team that had two 25 meter pools which allowed her to excel int he sport.  After graduating from high school, she became an Assistant Swim Coach at nearby Detroit Boat Club, a swim team with about 125 swimmers and a 50 meter 8 lane pool, built over the Detroit River in 1928.  She attended Michigan State University, swimming for 3 seasons and graduating with a B.S. Degree in Physical Education and Health.  

         Coach Blair has been coaching in the Annapolis area since '96 for various teams.  She was the NAJSSC assistant coach under Patti Lavell's prior to becoming head coach.  In addition, she coached for 11 seasons with the Naval Academy Aquatics Club, a US Swimming year round team.

        Coach Blair has four kids who all swam for Navy Juniors; Charles, Geoffrey, Courtney, and Caitlyn.  Her youngest daughter, Caitlyn, just graduated from Broadneck High and will be swimming her last season with Navy Juniors.  Outside of the pool, Carra Blair is an Anne Arundel County Public School Teacher, teaching Physical Education and Health Education for 6th, 7th and 8th graders at Brooklyn Park Middle School.
