Post Match Reaction: First Half Goals Kill Nairn
Three Deveronvale goals before half time put Gregg Carrol's side well on their way to all three points when they took on Nairn County at Station Park. The home side made more of a fight of things after the break but the damage had already been done. And Vale substitute Grant Noble was on hand in the last minute to secure back-to-back 4-0 victories over Nairn as he added to Michael Ewen and Mark Chisholm's (2) first half goals.
After the match, County boss Les Fridge said: "The game was won in the first half. Fair play to
Deveronvale, they are a very good side who are obviously going for the title. They scored with three good finishes but a couple of them were poor defending on our part but take nothing away from them."
He added: "The damage was done in the first half and if you give them half a chance they will punish you. If we put the same effort into the first half as we did the second half then it might have been a wee bit different."
This was the second match in a row that County had failed to score in. Fridge said: "We create chances and we get ourselves in the final third a lot. It's just not taking those chances that has been the tale of our season. It's something we'll need to work on and we'll need to try and bring in other people as well. We'll see what happens over the summer."
The manager still has Iain Brooks in his squad but the forward is currently out on loan at junior side Strathspey Thistle. Fridge said: "Iain has obviously been put out on loan to Strathspey but he hasn't played
Shaun Kerr: Volleyed over in the second half after coming on as sub
football in about a year. But he has been a big loss to us.
Fridge has nt made an early moves into the transfer market ahead of the the close season but he is on the look out. He said: "We've brought in Andrea Coletto from Nairn St Ninian and Garry Black but we are always on the look out. We need to bring in a couple of more players and we'll be looking to do that over the summer."
