14/10/07 Post Match Reaction: Second Half Display Pleases Fridge A win over Forres Mechanics yesterday moved Nairn County back up to fourth spot in the Highland League table. The home side struggled to break down the stubborn Forres back line throughout the first 45 minutes but Duncan Jones's opening goal put the hosts on their way to another three points. The visitors pushed for an equaliser but the Nairn back line was organised and defended well. The win was secured when Shaun Kerr notched his third goal against Forres this season in injury time

after coming off the bench for Chris Finnigan early in the second half. Manager Les Fridge spoke to the website after the match. He said: "I thought the first half was very flat overall. We started it well enough and created a couple of chances but then both teams cancelled each other out. "We put together a couple of great moves towards the end of the half and Duncan Jones nearly finished one of them but apart from that I thought we were quite poor in the first half. We could go up a couple of gears and we did that in the second half." He added: "Apart from long throw-ins coming into the box, they didn't put us under a lot of pressure and we controlled the second half. We got the first goal and grew in confidence from that and topped it off with the second late on." After Nairn's bright start, the visitors came into things as the half wore on and forward Ryan Green gave the County back line something to think about with his physical presence. Fridge said: "He is a big boy and wins the majority of things in the air

whether it be from set pieces or throw-ins and that was the big problem we had. We dealt with that a lot better in the second half though and I think the goal certainly gave us a lift. We went on from that and were only going to lose it from a set piece or a long throw." Striker Shaun Kerr wrapped things up in injury time for the home side with a well taken finish. Fridge said: "I'm delighted he's back on the scoresheet. He had a bereavement in the family so he missed a couple of weeks so its good to get him back involved and it definitely helps give us options." Kerr's goal was set up by fellow summer signing Scott Graham, who was playing his first competitive match for Nairn at Station Park. Fridge said: "Scott Graham has been missing a lot because of work commitments but he's been back the last couple of weeks. He has been looking sharp in training and has been involved in the last couple of games and done well."
