Post Match Reaction: Boss Disappointed With Defeat
A goal in injury time earned Cove Rangers three points over Nairn County at Station Park yesterday. The home side thought they had nicked a point when Martin MacDonald equalised Jamie Watt's opener in the 88th minute. But Cove midfielder Paul Coutts had other ideas when he raced through in injury time to slam home the winner and condemn County to their second last-minute defeat in a row.
After the match, Nairn manager Les Fridge said: "It was a very sore one to take and I am disappointed. Over the last two weeks, we have played two of the teams who are expected to be up there challenging
for the title and have spent a lot of money (Buckie Thistle and Cove) and we have conceded a goal in the last minute to lose both games. Whereas last week we were under a lot of pressure, I thought today, once we equalised, we had chances and put a lot of pressure on Cove for the last five minutes. Because we were at home, we were obviously going for the win but we got hit with the sucker punch in the 90th minute but that's football. We do have a very young team and that's maybe where a bit of inexperience creeps in. We were chasing forward to get the win so it is very disappointing to lose in the end."
Fridge's tactics last week against Buckie were criticised in some quarters but the manager refused to accept that he set his stall out to earn just a point.
He said: "I wouldn't have said we sat in last week. I thought it was a game of wo halves. John Campbell had very little to do in the first half when we had the wind at our backs. It meant that we had most

of the first half and then they had most of the second half when they had the wind and they finished the game strongly as a result. Bear in mind, they are tipped to win the league and they are supposed to be the top team so I think you have to give them credit for the players they have brought in.
Young midfielder Gregg Main has equitted himself well in the side over recent weeks and capped his run of form with the man of the match award yesterday.
Fridge said: "Gregg did well again today. He has had to wait for his chance and he is getting a wee run in the the team now and he is playing well.
