Post Match Reaction: Boss Unhappy With Free Kick Award
Nairn County's unbeaten home start to the season was ended in the final minute of their Highland League match against Buckie Thistle. The Jags won it thanks to a Tony Low volley 16 seconds before the 90 minutes were up.
County boss Les Fridge was pleased with his side's effort and application but was disappointed in a refereeing decision that led to the goal.
He said: "I thought we deserved something out of the game, but that's football.
"We matched them (Buckie) as well as any side has done this season. I thought when we played them a couple of weeks ago in the Scottish Cup the 4-1 scoreline flattered them because we did have chances in that game.
"But I thought we approached this game a lot better and we took the game to them and didn't deserve to lose."
He added: "I actually thought the free kick was for us that led to the corner that they then got the goal from. but obviously the referee saw it differently.
"I am a wee bit disappointed in that because I definitely thought it was our free kick. But today just seemed to be a day when every single 50-50 decision went their way for some reason."
The manager was pleased with how his defence coped with the pressure put on it by the table toppers as the game progressed.
He said: "There were times when we were under a bit of pressure but I thought we coped very well with everything."
Les Fridge: Pleased with his team's effort despite defeat
County only managed to force Buckie goalkeeper Kevin Main into one save throughout the 90 minutes.
Fridge said: "It is very difficult when you are playing against the team that are title favourites. They have spent a lot of money and brought in a lot of players so there was always going to be spells where we were under pressure. We did have our own chances and all in all, I can't fault my players."
County have another home match this Saturday when they take on Cove Rangers at Sation Park. This game will kick off at 2.30 pm because of the Scotland vs. Italy Euro 2008 qualifying match which kicks off at 5.00 pm.
