Post Match Reaction: Taking Chances Was The Difference
A 4-1 defeat at Buckie Thistle's Victoria Park ended Nairn's Scottish Cup hopes at the second round stage as Duncan Shearer's men progressed to Monday's third round draw.
The home side rocked County with a quick-fire double that put them two goals in front with only 12 minutes on the clock. That was how it stayed until the second half when the hosts added a third through sub Matthew Edmond after they had had midfielder Andy Matheson sent off. This prompted Les Fridge to throw bodies forward and Nairn did pull one back when Martin MacDonald netted but
David MacRae added Buckie's fourth to kill the game.
Fridge said after the match: "The big difference in the game was that they took their chances and we never. Goals win games and taking chances win games and we just couldn't take the chances we created.
"We started the game very brightly and had a couple of chances but they scored twice with their first two chances of the game and that was the difference."
He added: "The second half was much the same. We controlled 90 per cent of the half I would say. We started really well, had a go at them and pegged them in their own half for the first 25 minutes of the half but they then created one half chance and scored against the run of play and that was the difference.
"We then ended up chasing the game and lost a bad fourth but at the end of the day it was about their finishing. They took their chances and that is what won them the game."
County return to league business next Saturday when they take on Brora Rangers at the Cattachs Dudgeon Park ground. It marks the

start of a stable run of league fixtures up until the start of the Highland League Cup in March for Fridge's side who have played 14 matches this season with only eight of them being in the league.
Fridge said: "Unfortunately that's just the way it is with cup competitions and we have to play the games at the end of the day. But we're back to league duty next week and make no mistake, it will be a very difficult game for us at Brora. I've always said there are no easy games in this league especially away from home."
