30/7/07 Transfer News: Glenn is the Main Man for County Nairn County have concluded their sixth summer signing in time for tomorrow night's North of Scotland Cup match against Forres Mechanics by striking a deal to land utility man Glenn Main from Nairn St Ninian. The County youth team graduate has spent the last three season with the Showfield outfit in various forms, enjoying two seasons on loan before making the permanant switch from Station Park last summer.

From there, he netted over 25 goals last season as Ronnie Sharp's side scooped the Gordon Williamson Cup as well as winning promotion after finishing second in Division Two of the North juniors set up. That form alerted Les Fridge who brought Main back to Station Park on trial over the close season and the 22-year-old has done enough in the four games that he's played to earn a three-year deal. Fridge said: "I am delighted to have Glenn on board for the new season. He has been at Saints for the last few years now and has done well, scoring a lot of goals. He has worked hard and he will have be patient to get his chance and keep working hard like the rest of the boys we have at the club." Main will be hoping to follow the route taken by his younger brother, Gregg, and Marc MacDonald who have also progressed to the first team from the youth set up via Saints. But the man who can play at the back, in midfield or up front has experience on his side having featured several times during his first spell at Station Park.

He was thrust into the first team limelight towards the end of season 2002-03 making a brief subsitute appearance in the 6-0 win over Lossiemouth as the club surged towards a fifth place finish in the league. The following season he appeared more regularly managing seven starts and two run outs from the bench playing either in defence or centre midfield. His final appearance came in the 5-1 win over Fort William on the last day of the 2003-04 season. Since his switch to St Ninian, Main has been playing a lot of his football up front and it was there he played during Saturday's match at Strathspey Thistle. He has also played in the middle of midfield or wide on the right during this pre-season. The club are also hopeful of concluding a deal to sign former Inverness CT and Clachnacuddin man Darren Jarvie within the next few days after he also featured in Saturday's match, playing 90 minutes on the left hand side of midfield.
