| 10/08/08 Post-Match Reaction: Boss's Rage At Penalty Decisions Two contentious penalty awards effectively ended Nairn County's Challenge Cup campaign for another year when they were edged out of the competition by Cove Rangers. After the home side had taken the lead through Stephen Skinner's first goal of the season, the visitors drew level when Jamie Watt struck after a Kevin Webster run caught the home defence cold. And with Nairn looking to re-establish their lead, Cove were handed the impetus when referee Brian Braidwood awarded them a penalty for an apparent handball by Gary Black to the amazement of all in the ground. |

| Watt slotted home and them things went from bad to worse for Les Fridge's men when the visitors won a second penalty when Braidwood was again eager to point to the spot, this time after a Barrie Stephen dive in the box. Watt again done the business to give the visitors a 3-1 half time lead but the hosts fought hard in the second half and managed to reduce to deficit when Scott Graham struck but the damage had already been done. Fridge said: "It was one of those games where we started the game really well, went one up and then they have come back at us and replied quickly. We lost, without getting myself into trouble, two very soft penalties and for us coming in 3-1 down at half time was tough. I said there was nothing we could do about the decisions and we just had to go out and have a go which we did. We totally controlled and dominated the second half and created enough chances that, on another day we would have easily won the game."
