08/09/08 Post-Match Reaction: We Should Have Scored More A 4-1 victory over Clachnacuddin lifted Nairn County up to fourth in the Highland League table - but boss Les Fridge felt his side should have racked up a bigger margin of victory. The hosts took the lead when Duncan Jones fired home after three minutes before a Neil MacCuish own goal doubled County's advantage with only nine minutes on the clock. Shaun Kerr added Nairn's third goal after 48 minutes to pretty much secure all three points before ex-Nairn forward Scott Kellacher gave his former employers somewhat of a scare by pulling a goal back. But Kerr wrapped up

the points when he capitalised on some poor defending to wrap up all three points. After the match County boss Les Fridge said: "It was very pleasing for us to get the win, especially after the hype that Clach had last week. they have obviously got a new management team in and their players were out to impress and show what they can do. It was a local derby and it was important for us to get three points and I thought that we achieved that and did it very well. We played well, created a lot of chances and in the end ran out quite comfortable winners but I actually thought we created enough chances to score a few more goals than we did." The manager was able to afford to luxury of leaving first team regulars Wayne Mackintosh and Willie Barron on the bench and it shows the strength in depth of the squad at the moment with a number of key players returning while the players who are in the side at present playing well enough to retain their starting positions. Fridge added: "We don't have a big squad and obviously we've lost Jonathan Holland recently and Neil MacDonald pulled out of this game in the morning.

As I say, we don't have a big squad but it's nice to look and have a strong bench which means we can change things if need be." He added: "It's a case of i want a nig enough squad where we have people fighting for places. I want the players to know that if they are not doing their job that someone else will come in and replace them so it is not just a case of players turning up every week and being guaranteed of their place in the team."
