The show will feature a title defense by Jeff Jarrett, and will also feature Scott Steiner, Randy Savage, Kronik, Sabu, Crowbar and many more names which should all be announced in the upcoming days. Tickets go on sale on Friday and will be available through Ticketmaster.com. Tickets will be priced at $25, $35, $50, $100, and $200 depending on the location of seats. WWA will also be holding a fan convention on the day before the PPV, Feb. 23rd also at the Aladdin and admission for that will cost an extra $40. And we as wrestling fans have to brace ourselves for what will be a tumultuous ride for the WWF. I've gotten quite a few E-Mails from people wanting to know what I thought of what's going on, and with the NWO a done deal, now seems a good a time as any to talk about Baldy Hogan and his cronies. Before I get started into the NWO, let me get a few things straight to you about Hogan. Do I like him? NO. Do I tolerate him? YES. I also recognize everything that Hogan did to put wrestling on the map in the mid '80s. However, I also remember his lack of skill (Notice every single one of his matches then were the freaking same), and his lack of team play. Those things more than anything else turn me off to Hogan. Now when the NWO debuted in 1996, it was definitely revolutionary. Bringing in Hall and Nash one at a time, and building up the story was fascinating. Bringing in the third member (Hogan) was a masterstroke. No one figured that the "Face for life" Hogan would turn against all his little Hulksters. It rejuvenated his career, and made the NWO the most dominant angle in wrestling. I admit it; I was captivated and wanted to see it play out each week on Nitro. The NWO was hot; the WWF was not. However, everything comes with a price. And the price was ego. Ego and large guaranteed contracts put Baldy, Nash, and Hall in the driver's seat. Nash became known as Big Lazy for his lack of effort, Hall drank himself into oblivion, and Hogan, well, just remained Hogan. Because of their power, they weren't gonna job to anyone. So what resulted was a never ending cycle of screwjob endings, run-ins, crooked refs, and crooked promoters. Now hold on Vile, you say. These guys lost matches. That's right, they did. By DQ. Or they lost in meaningless matches. Hogan lost at Starrcade to Piper. But it was a non-title match. He dropped the belt to Lex Loser; but regained it 5 days later. Except for the loss to Goldberg (Which they had to put a gun to his head to make him do), anytime Hogan lost, there was a catch. Everything revolved around Baldy and his buddies. Which meant if you weren't in the program, you were going nowhere. This led to other incarnations like NWO Wolfpac, The Latino World Order, The Jewish World Order, The Epileptic World Order, and the Bohemian World Order. (You get the idea). Problem was, Bischoff never knew when to cut the strings. I became bored with the NWO after a few short months, and it didn't take long before other people felt the same way. Then Vince fired the torpedo that sank the NWO: Austin vs. McMahon. Bischoff tried to keep the NWO going, but it was no use. The appeal was dead. And because Bischoff tied all of WCW's hopes and dreams to the NWO, it didn't take long before WCW sank into the sea. Now Vince is hoping to weave some of the NWO magic in hopes of higher ratings. Will the NWO work? Maybe. Vince has to keep the terrible trio in check. The thing that pulled the WWF through the wars was that the wrestlers were close knit, and worked together for the good of the company. Baldy and the boys work for themselves and the dead Benjamins so when Vince talks about them being poison, he isn't far off. If they come in wanting to do their own booking, and refuse to job for people, Vince has got to lay down the law. If he doesn't, and kowtows to these three, the WWF is doomed to fail. The NWO fad will work for a while, but people will turn it off faster than "Bob Patterson." Is the angle interesting right now? YES. Will I continue to watch? YES. Will I watch if they keep doing the same old sh*t (Spray painting everything, run-in endings for everything, and everything revolving around Baldy and the boys)?
