TOP HEADLINE//=======================================================
--Dave Meltzer reports that Hulk Hogan officially signed his WWF
contract Friday afternoon.
1Wrestling adds that Hogan had made a deal with the XWF that he
wouldn't sign a WWF contract until he could find a XWF TV deal in
March, but at this stage it looks like they won't be getting a TV
slot until September, mainly due to the failure that was this past
week's NAPTE convention.
It also looks like Hogan may be lobbying to get another one of his
friends into the WWF, none other than Jimmy Hart. Hogan and Hart go
way back as friends, and word has it that the WWF just might sign
him as a way to get back at the XWF after their presence at this
past week's NAPTE convention. If the WWF were to sign Hart, who is
currently co-running the federation, that would be 3 key positions
the WWF has signed away from XWF including their main commentator
(Jerry Lawler), their main star (Curt Hennig) and their main
organizer (Jimmy Hart). Many feel that the WWF is just doing this as
a way to offset the possible threat of XWF.
--The Torch reports that now Hulk Hogan is signed and will be
involved with the nWo angle, Triple H won't have to be leader which
was once the plan if Hogan wasn't brought in. Now, Triple H will
instead be one of the main wrestlers who are to feud with the nWo.
--While it has been widely reported that the members of the nWo
(Hogan, Nash and Hall) will NOT be at the TV tapings this week, that
DOESN'T rule out their being on the show in taped form.
--Card plans for WrestleMania 18 from Toronto, Canada are already
said being put in motion according to SLAM! Wrestling. Current
plans has Hollywood Hogan teeing off against the Rock, Steve Austin
vs. Kevin Nash and Triple H against Scott Hall. However, plans of
HHH vs. Jericho are still a go for the main event while Hall
will take on Angle as another match on the supercard.

--This week's SmackDown! rating scored a final 4.2 number, even
though the overnight rating scored a massive 5.7 rating.
--Here's the Official preview for Raw on Monday:
This past Thursday on SmackDown!, Mr. McMahon said that ever since
Ric Flair defeated him at the Royal Rumble, the Nature Boy has
assumed the leadership position in the World Wrestling Federation.
Because of this, Mr. McMahon said the Federation has contracted slow-
eating, terminal cancer, and it is dying a slow death. However, he
said he created the Federation, and he will be the one to kill it.
Him ... and the nWo!
What's Mr. McMahon's next step in his plan to destroy the very
Federation that he built? And how will the nWo help him? Tune into
RAW this Monday!
Also, three huge matches have already been named for Monday's
broadcast, live at 9/8 CT on TNN.
After qualifying matches on SmackDown!, Stone Cold Steve Austin will
face Kurt Angle for the right to face the Undisputed Federation
Champion at No Way Out, whoever that may be!
Also, Kane and Big Show will try to settle their differences in a
battle of two behemoths, and Chris Jericho puts his Undisputed
Federation Championship on the line against Tough Enough champion
Maven!

--The Undertaker vs. The Rock will soon be made official for the No
Way Out PPV, according to Meltzer.
--Here's the WWF's schedule for the next four days:
*Saturday the 26th in Johnstown, PA & Pittsburgh, PA
*Sunday the 27th in Charlottesville, VA & Hershey, PA
*Monday's Raw will air live fron Richmond, VA on the 28th
*Tuesday's SmackDown! taping takes place in Norfolk, VA on the 29th
--Dave Scherer reports that many fans writing in told him taht their
loud "R-V-D" chants were edited out of the final show that we saw on
Thursday.
--Scherer also notes that reports stating that the nWo will appear
on both shows after the split (still scheduled for the night after
Mania) are false. They will only appear on one or the other, not
both.
--Reminder: The lovely Stacy Keibler will be hosting tonight's
Heat
along with Michael Cole and Tazz.
--The matches already announced for Heat are:
*Diamond Dallas Page vs. Christian
*The Godfather vs. Lance Storm
--Jess McGrath at 1wrestling is reporting that the WWF has showed
interest in signing AJ Styles, after he impressed officials during
his matches this week on TV tapings

--3PW wrestling, a new indy fed will be at the ECW Arena on February
15th starring with Little Guido, Chris Hamrick, Blue Meanie, Jasmine
St. Clair, Christian York, Joey Matthews and C.M. Punk as talent
scheduled to appear. Their main event pits Sandman vs. Crowbar vs.

--Dave Meltzer reports that the main event for NOAH's show at the
sold-out Budokan Hall has been announced as Mitsuharu Misawa & Kenta
Kobashi vs. Yuji Nagata & Jun Akiyama.
--The WWA's 2/24 PPV which was originally scheduled to take place
at
the MGM will now be moved to some other arena in Las Vegas, most
probably the Hard Rock Café. The reason for this is that the WWA
is
worried that it won't be able to bring a huge crowd at the MGM,
which is a relatively large arena. So, they are trying to get a
smaller arena for the event.

Ross Report
Here are this week's news and notes from Jim Ross:
--The Undertaker is going to be at house shows this weekend and will
work through the discomfort in his lower back. His condition seems
to be improving.
--Molly twisted her knee at TV but is feeling much better and it
should not affect her in the ring.
--Steve Blackman will see Dr. Youngblood in San Antonio this
Wednesday to evaluate his neck condition.
--Lance Storm is working through a case of tendinitis in his
shoulder.
--Nick Patrick will need some dental work after being kicked in the
mouth.
--Rhyno and Chris Benoit will both see Dr. Youngblood on Jan. 31 to
evaluate their progress from their respective neck surgeries. Benoit
should be able to return in April as it now stands but that could
change after his next doctor's visit. Rhyno is at least five months
away from returning, probably more.
--Kanyon should be back from ACL surgery shortly after WrestleMania.
--Taka will be able to return by the end of February from shoulder
surgery.
--Tiger Ali Singh is recovering from a concussion and shoulder
problems. No return date has been announced.
--Eric Angle will see Dr. Jim Andrews on Wednesday for an evaluation
on his biceps tear.
--When talking about the nWo, J.R didn't mention any names or when
it would happen, he just said that it would make for interesting TV
leading up to No Way Out. Typical J.R response.
--WWF superstars scheduled for the next edition of the Weakest Link
on NBC include Stone Cold, Debra, Y2J, Jerry Lawler, Edge, the
Dudleys and Terri. The broadcast will be taped in LA on Wednesday,
Feb. 6.
--Those involved at WWF New York on Sat. Feb. 9 in conjunction with
the annual Toy Fair include Kurt Angle, Al Snow, Tazz, Terri, Jerry
Lawler and Jim Ross.
--Tickets for No Way Out in Milwaukee on Feb. 17 go on sale this
Saturday morning in Milwaukee, with Stacy at the arena at 10:30 am.
--Tough Enough 2 production ends today, and the premiere casting
special will air on MTV on Thursday Feb. 28.
--The Hardys are preparing to help author their interesting life
story and the biography will be out later this year. Lita will be a
special guest at MTV Asia's upcoming awards show on Feb. 2.
--As per his request, the WWF released Kaz Hayashi because he wanted
to go back to his family in Japan.
