Chris Benoit, Torrie and Tajiri was there taking questions from fans, games with fans and signing autographs. Torrie got the loudest cheers and easily the most popular. Tajiri didn't say much except he apologies for speaking little english and its great to be here. Also, the fans have not forgotten Chris even though he was out for sometime with a lot mimicking his "WHAT ?!" liner. There was about 3,000 fans with quite a number of them queing up since the morning. The event lasted about an hour and ended with Torrie and Yoshiri signing autographs for fans who queue, Chris was at the back having an interview with the media. Tickets has been selling fast since it was put up on sale on 21st March. The VIP ticket (with autograph session) was sold out within an hour. The VIP ticket cost a whopping equivalent of US$230 per ticket, talk about the current recession around here people are still spending money! The last time the WWF tour was here was about 6 years ago and tickets only cost a fraction, still remember Bret Hart beat his late brother Owen for the title. Happy B-day big man! --SmackDown! last week finished in 81st place out of 136 prime-time shows last week according to Neilsens. --The following gate and attendence figures come from the Pro Wrestling Torch: **The Rumble PPV from Atlanta, Ga Sunday had sellout of 12,915 in paid attendence bringing in $859,690 and an additional profit of $142,615 in merchandise sales. **Raw from Greenville, had 9,420 in attendence for $311,612 in ticket sales. **Smackdown from N. According to the Associated Press, attendence was down 31% from that of last year and all the big names didn't not show up as they did in previous years. What this has to do with wrestling is that the XWF spent a lot of money in trying to drum up interest in its promotion and somehow gain a TV outlet. However, the major networks, and even the little ones passed on this years convention making the XWF's efforts pointless. --This week in his wrestling themed column in the Philadelphia Daily News, Michael Tearson looks at Chris Jericho's World Title reign and talks about Goldberg as well. Normally, I don't keep my hopes up too much because since 1993 when they instituted the "Winner gets a title shot at Wrestlemania", the Rumble has had about as much suspense and intrigue as a Pauly Shore movie. Now don't get me wrong; The Rumble isn't bad: It was better when everyone was in it, and there was no title shot for the winner. I mean, how else do you explain guys like Hacksaw Duggan and John Studd winning it. That would have NEVER happened with the current format. I give the WWF credit for two big surprises. (1) I gave Tazz and Spike as much of a chance of winning as "The Chamber" has of being good TV. But they did it. They beat the mighty Dudleys. People just love that "underdog" stuff. (2) Trish beat the Wildebeast known as Jazz to retain the women's title. I think Sam Jerry hit it on the head. With all the eye candy the WWF has in the women's division, an ugly women's champion just isn't going to cut it. I will give the WWF props for bringing back Val and The Godfather. They were 2 personalities that were sorely missed. Screw the PTC!!!! Let's see now. If you win Tough Enough, you get to make a few meaningless appearances on TV, you get to be in a PPV, job the Undertaker, and then gets destroyed for it. What's the benefit of this once again? I may be in the minority, but it's great to see Curt Hennig back in the fold. I was a major fan when he was the only real superstar the AWA had, and the Mr. Perfect gimmick made him even more of a star. He won't be a main eventer, but he'll do fine in the undercard. Even with his personality changes, I have always followed Steve Austin's career with interest. From the Stunning one, to the Hollywood Blonde to The Ringmaster (Ugh!) to Stone Cold, he's been pretty interesting. With some noteable exceptions. After Monday's Raw though, I have to say that he has graduated to the Media Whore Hall of Fame. Austin didn't win the Rumble, so he doesn't have anything really high-profile working. So what do they do. Have him go out during the Hennig/Venis match, and lay them both out. What's the matter SCSA? Are you that jealous of Rock, HHH, Angle, and Y2J getting the spotlight that you have to try and make your own? How sad. Speaking of Y2J, this guy is never gonna be taken seriously because of the way his reign is being played out. After his soliloquy on Smackdown last week, I thought they might be turning him around. That he might actually get that decisive win. He got it alright. Thanks to another screwjob ending. P.S. Would somebody please just smack Nick Patrick in the cookies? And lastly, Ric Flair beat the Vin-Man. And in doing so, he unleashed an even greater threat to mankind; The Spawn of Satan. McMahon claims he's forced to do something that even he will regret. Well that means turning Baldy Hogan loose on the world again. Now I'm no fan of his, but even I will admit the groundbreaking contributions that he made. But his time is long gone. If Hogan is truly back, it means a locker room divided for the WWF. It means non stop politicking, grandstanding, and backstabbing. Hogan wouldn't do jobs in the past unless you put a gun to his forehead; Do they really think he's going to do it now? And just remember, Hogan and his buddies contributed to the fall of WCW.
