The Calgary wrestler's widow confirmed yesterday she has signed over movie rights to the story of her and her late husband's life to Artisan Entertainment in California. "There's a lot of mystery behind what really happened and the story has never before been told properly," Martha Hart said of Owen's fatal wrestling accident in 1999. Hart said all proceeds from the movie deal -- the amount of which she declined to disclose -- will go to the Owen Hart Foundation. "I would never exploit my pain, my life and my stories for personal financial gain," she said. "I want to focus on the good work that's come out of Owen's death. I can't get yesterday back, but I'm hoping I can make a better future." While filming details have yet to be finalized, Hart hopes at least part of the movie will be shot in Calgary. And while she doesn't know if she'll appear in the movie itself, she will be featured in a vignette at the film's end talking about the Owen Hart Foundation. She expects the film to be completed by the end of 2003. Meantime, Hart is also writing a book with Sun sports writer Eric Francis about her life with Owen set to be in bookstores next fall. This proves that the WWF still has an audience out there, they just need to get their asses in gear and give people something tangible to watch. After nearly eight months of rehabilitation on a torn quadriceps muscle, Triple H returned to a sold-out Madison Square Garden and helped drive RAW to its second highest rating since August with an overall 4.9 rating / 7 share in approximately 4,171,000 households. This number reflects a 23% ratings increase from RAW on December 17th (the last time RAW aired on a non- holiday). The share was also up 18% from December 17th. This rating delivery is 16.7% higher than the season-to-date average household delivery of a 4.2 rating / 6.5 share. This reflects a staggering 103% increase in the key Male 18-24 demographic (7.3 on 1/7/02 vs. 3.6 on 12/17/01); a 56% increase in Males 12-24 (7.8 on 1/7/02 vs. 5.0 on 12/17/01); and a 30% increase in Males 12-17 (8.3 on 1/7/02 vs. 6.4 12/17/01). Triple H will make his return to WWF SmackDown! on UPN this Thursday, January 10 at 8:00 p.m. ET. ===================================================================== Comment//============================================================ Vile Thoughts It's been a stale few weeks in the WWF, and I have to admit, I just didn't watch too much over the holidays. But now, I'm back, and hopefully we can discuss some interesting happenings once again instead of... Why is Ray Traylor in main event matches? The WWF has not only its roster, but WCW wrestlers as well. And Ray Traylor is in main events? Next question: When do we start seeing Bad News Brown; or Outback Jack? Congratulations to Tazz and Spike on winning the tag titles. Now make sure you bring them to Smackdown, because you are not holding them for longer than 3 days. You will either lose them back to the Dudley Boyz because the Dudleys will claim they "slipped on a banana peel," or you're gonna lose them to Chuck and Billy, or Neal and Bob, or whatever the hell they're called. As for Chuck and Billy, they're okay in the ring, but this Playboy Buddy Rose and Pretty Boy Doug Sommers routine is.. well; not good. Does anyone even care that Christian is the European Champion? Congratulations; you have brought apathy to new levels. I said it before, I'll say it again. Breaking up Edge and Christian was not a swift move. Of course, we saw the much ballyhooed (And rightly so) return of Triple H. (I'm a mark for HHH, so sue me) He looked pretty damn good for someone who had been on the shelf for 8 months. Of course the WWF gave us a tease because they really want to give us the long look at the Rumble. It was interesting to see Angle come out and spoil the festivities. Looked like he drew the short straw. You know, the one that meant a total bitch-slapping by HHH. What a year for Angle. He goes from Olympic Zero to American hero back to Olympic Zero to HHH's bitch. HHH is allegedly a face now, but we'll just have to see how that goes. And how about the pop he got from the crowd. I don't think he was even ready for it. Rock and Austin may get the most press, but the smart fans know that HHH is "The Game." And lastly, an irrational rant about many WWF fans. I'm trying not to lump all of you into this; many WWF fans are smart, but some are just downright dumb. Why am I saying this? Why is it that when heels with dumb gimmicks turn face, the dumb gimmicks are now cool? For instance, Why is "What?" the new national craze? I will admit, one well placed "What?" is mildly amusing. But to hear these brain dead fans chant "What?" every 5 seconds id awful. And a couple of weeks ago I heard people cheering for the Hurridork now that he's a face. It was a dumb gimmick before, and it's still stupid now. WWF fans did the same thing with Terry Taylor. The Red Rooster was a bad heel. He was an even worse face. It still goes back to the same premise. Most people will cheer for good over evil. I like to live by a different motto. Crap is crap no matter how you package it.
