It's lowest rating in four years. There's also talk that Nash will NOT appear at the 1/7 episode of Raw so as not to take away from Triple H's return. -According to RFVideo.com, Rey Mysterio Jr. is said to be having talks with the WWF in the hopes of bringing him into the promotion. More on this as it comes in. -The WWA has announced that sponsors are set for their promotion and that they'll begin touring domestically and internationally in thr next year. They will also be relocating their offices to Los Angeles in the new year as well. Their PPV is still scheduled for February 24th. The tag team match will see Spanky team with HBK's cousin Michael Shane to take on Oz and Ikaika Loa. These are four of the top upcoming wrestlers on the independent scene. Spanky has had a stint as a WWF developmental wrestler. Shane and Oz were set to become mainstays in ECW before the promotion went out of business. Ikaika Loa is the latest protege of head trainer Rudy Boy Gonzalez and has been touted as a future superstar. ROH extends a big thank you to Gonzalez, who made the deal happen to have these four talented youngsters on the 2/23 event. The 2/23 show is headlined by a double dream match main event of Eddy Guerrero vs. Super Crazy and Christopher Daniels vs. Low Ki vs. American Dragon. Also announced for the show are Da Hit Squad, Xavier, Homicide and Boogalou. ROH will feature wrestling as a sport and not as sports entertainment. Every style of wrestling from Japanese to Lucha to American to hardcore will be seen on what will be the hardest-hitting, highest-flying, most athletic event of the year. This show will also see ROH start its storylines and feuds. This is the beginning of the Era Of Honor. ===================================================================== Comment//============================================================ Linda's Thoughts Ok, I hope you all had a very nice and safe Holiday. First let me say my aunt was released today from the hospital, all is very good, and surgery was avoided. I want to thank everyone who sent their kind thoughts about my aunt. I mentioned on Sunday that I would review Smackdown and try to do Raw so let me start with Raw. I got home at midnight Christmas day and what better way to start the holiday off then by watching Raw. I read the spoilers so I knew what to expect, but for me the show came off better on television than on paper. No it wasn't an award-winning program, but there were some damn good matches and I have to say seeing Moolah and Mae Young really brightened my day. Only kidding, seeing Mae Young and Moolah just brought back those days of a hand being delivered. They didn't brighten my day, but I have to say Mae put on a very nauseating strip show. The humor on Raw might have been a little "smutty" but I enjoyed it, sometimes smut can be a good thing. At least it was for Raw. My favorite matches were the Santa Claus match with Tajiri and Buh Buh Ray Dudley. How they battled in those heavy suites is beyond me, but I think those two guys did a fantastic job. Not only was it fun to watch but I think it was one of Tajiri's better matches. And Buh Buh was no slouch either. A very entertaining match without a doubt. Also Christian vs. Hurricane Helms was another goody. I notice with Helms now a face we are seeing him do what he does best wrestle. No more of Hurricane trying to punch out guys or doing crazy antics. It was nice seeing Helms get some nice moves in and along with Christian it was another match well worth watching. Add to my favorite match list RVD vs. Storm. I think it could have gone on a little longer, but I liked what I saw. I'm so happy that Storm is getting some television time, and the more I see RVD the more I like what I'm seeing. I don't know he seems to be putting so much more into his matches, it's a pleasure watching just what he can do. My favorite match of the night was the main event with Kurt Angle and Jericho vs. The Rock. God I loved this one, non-stop action, just an all around outstanding match. I loved Jericho and Angle working together then turning on each other. I'll tell you the fans seemed to really be into it and maybe that's why I enjoyed Raw, the main event made the whole show totally enjoyable for me. Before I go to Smackdown I can't forget the return of Stephanie. I don't know what to think right now. On Raw she couldn't say boo, she just wanted to be with Dad. Dad certainly didn't feel the same way and Vince managed to humiliate her in front of the guys. That caused her to leave. I found it funny that Jericho was right there and didn't make any comments toward Stephanie. I have a theory but I'll let you read about it during the Smackdown review. Oh and one more thing it was nice seeing Maven on Raw but I don't understand why he was at Vince's party the party of the heels. That confused me, also Tazz being there did too, but then Tazz switched to Flair's party with the WWF faces. Enough just something's to think about. On to Smackdown which again I liked. I didn't think this main event came anywhere near Monday night's. Well maybe Test has cooled down with his push, but now we have The Big Bossman main eventing with Booker against Stone Cold Steve Austin. My question is WHY! No not WHAT, but WHY? I also noticed the January house shows have Austin vs. Booker and Bossman, wow that's a great way to sell tickets. So now my "hero" Test seems to be back where he belongs and we have another guy who I feel shouldn't be up there with Austin. Let's see how long that lasts. I thought Tazz and Spike vs. The Dudley's was a great way to get the show going. Tazz and Spike look very good together, and maybe they should let their partnership continue. This was a match I didn't expect to be so good. I wouldn't mind seeing a rematch on next week's Smackdown, I'm hoping that this can continue into a nice feud. At least it's looking very promising. Vince and Flair did a promo where Flair poured out his emotions. He thanked Vince for giving him his career back, I won't go into the whole thing, but there were times Ric did get teary eyed, it got very emotional. He then said that Vince told him every time Flair got close to greatness Ric would do something stupid and take one step backwards. Flair then started to go into a rage asking Vince who was he to tell Ric Flair how to wrestle? This went on for a little bit and then Flair made the first Royal Rumble match. It will be Vinny vs. Ric. Hopefully this is a good thing. Christian took on Rikishi, nothing special about this one. I think Rikishi would do better with a partner than on his own. I would have preferred to see a Helms/ Christian rematch again, but no such luck. This match brought out Test who interfered. Rikishi left the ring to go after Test and was counted out. A lackluster ending to a lackluster match. There was a funny little skit with Angle and Storm. They were going to be taking on Rock and RVD. Angle told Storm how Storm has so much more charisma than RVD. He asked Lance to show him that charismatic smile. Storm did just that, only it didn't look like a smile to me. Angle thought it was perfect. Than Storm told Angle that Angle was more charismatic than Rock, Angle agreed and showed him a new "move" he learned. God Angle looked so lame doing it, but it was funny and something to see. Jericho didn't make it to the arena, no the larger than life guy was at a pool sunbathing and bragging about being the best. Again I think Chris is doing a great job and I would have liked to see him in the ring, but I guess a night off is well deserved, after all he is the UNDISPUTED CHAMPION. Again RVD/Rock vs. Storm and Angle was great. But I'm not surprised. And again RVD put so much more in his performance. This by far was the match of the night. I don't know just hearing those 4 names you kind of expect something outstanding. Now the women's match wasn't outstanding but it wasn't bad. Trish beat Molly and as Trish was celebrating Jazz came out and started beating up Trish. Molly tried to interfere but Jazz took her out too. Jazz has a new look, long straight hair and thankfully a better outfit. I really feel sorry for Trish going against Jazz in the near future, I thought Jackie was stiff, I have a feeling Jazz will make Jackie look sweet and innocent. Tajiri was Taker's latest victim. Before the match Taker tells "BOSS" Vince that he'll take care of Flair for him. Vince tells Taker Flair will get his. He tells Taker he respects him so much for what he did to Matt, Jeff and Lita. He then tells Taker after he gets done with Tajiri he'll have more respect. Slimy Vince gets this little thing in, he tells Taker to watch out for Tajiri's manager Torrie, oh now she's his manager. Anyway don't you just feel that's Vince's way to say take her out too? Well Tajiri gives it his best shot, but Taker of course beats him keeps the Hard-Core Title and beats him some more. Torrie comes out of it unharmed. The Big Show comes out to stop Taker from continuing to beat at Tajiri. Big bad Taker sees Show coming and slowly walks out of the ring and leaves. We then go to break and come back and Show is on the mic calling Taker out. He says he's done nothing but beaten smaller guys why doesn't Taker go one on one with Show. This brings Undertaker out, and he walks down the ramp, and the fans are ready for another brawl. Instead Taker gets on his motorcycle and leaves. Guess what? It's Taker vs. Show on next week's live Smackdown. Here's hoping for a good match. By the way Taker is still coming out to the same song and still getting those pops. Go figure. Hey for those of you who watch Saturday Night Live I'm sure you've seen the cartoons of the Ambiguously Gay Guys. Well they have now come to life in the form of Billy Gunn and Chuck Palumbo. Yep I see a gay theme here. Let's see on Smackdown they took Stacey's hair spray. Stacey didn't seem to please. Then they tried to top her and showed her poses of what they would look like in a calendar. Ok, seeing Billy act like this, doesn't please me at all. My husband of course thinks this could be good, so now I know it won't be. Seriously I don't think Palumbo or Gunn will benefit from this, but I have a feeling this is only the beginning. Ok, Mrs. Helmsley's back, and she's asking Ric Flair for a job. She tells Flair who better than no not Kanyon, but Steph to help him defeat Vince. Flair isn't buying this, he says he believes she knows Vinny well but he isn't hiring and he's certainly not hiring any McMahons. This makes little Steph angry and she tells Flair that Hunter will be back Jan. 7th. By the way the pops are so loud when she brings up his return date, anyway she warns Flair that Hunter will be back and if he doesn't hire her they're could be repercussions. So Ric says he will definitely think about it. Ok my theory. I think it's safe to say Hunter is coming back as a face, but I see his wife going with Vince and Y2J. Just Jericho not talking to her is to odd, also remember last year when Vince wanted a divorce and Vince insulted his little princess and she seemed to care about her parents staying together? She and Foley got a long and then bingo she turned and along with Vince fired Foley. I don't trust Steph and what better way to give Jericho real heat than to have the number 1 female heel (notice I nicely I put that) be by his side. So I'm expecting a HHH/Jericho feud with father-in-law and wife siding with Y2J. Since I mentioned the main event at the beginning the last match of the night was Edge vs. Kane. Again nothing great. But Edge won only because Kane's mask almost came off. Oh oh I see something happening here. Kane panicked and lost the match because keeping his face covered seemed a hell of a lot more important. I have a feeling this is the start of Kane losing that red mask. I think he also needs to lose his "face" character and join the other side to get some life back into him. Hey I think Kane is an excellent worker, it just seems that right now he's going nowhere, maybe teaming him up with Taker can help both guys. Well there you have it, Raw was smut and humor and Smackdown was a little more serious. And I liked them both. Hey it's Christmas time you can't expect something HUGE, so I have to say WWF did a good enough job of entertaining me this week. I'm looking forward to the Best of 2001 on Monday night, and I can't wait to see Smackdown live in Washington D.C. I'm really feeling a change coming and I really believe things are going to improve.
