He was 27 years old. Hass, at the time of his death, had not been active in wrestling because of a heart condition that had been diagnosed several months ago. He had been cleared recently by his cardiologist to return to active wrestling. At the WWF's request, Hass had been scheduled to be examined for a second opinion this coming Tuesday before returning to in-ring action. "Russ Hass was one of our shining lights at Ohio Valley Wrestling, and he was an even better human being," said Jim Ross, Senior Vice President, Talent Relations. "Our deepest sympathies go out to the Hass family. Russ will truly be missed by all who knew him." Due to the overwhelming response to RAW, the World Wrestling Federation has added a second night of televised excited at Madison Square Garden -- SmackDown! on Tuesday, Jan. 8! Tickets are on sale now! -For those not clear on the WWF's schedule for the next week. Raw and SmackDown! will be taped from Lafayette & New Orleans Monday and Tuesday respectively. Raw for Christmas Eve (The 24th) and SmackDown! the following Thursday (The 27th) are being taped this Friday (the 21st) and Saturday (the 22nd) from Miami and Orlando respectively. We may not expect many major surprises from the Friday and Saturday tapings due to the fact that spoilers and news going into the holiday weekend will spoil all the results for the shows. Ratings for Raw aren't expected to be phenominal due to the fact that folks would be more inclined to eat their Christmas dinners and spend time with their familes rather than watch the show. However, the WWF may plan something huge because of that fact. We'll just have to wait until Saturday when all the Raw spoilers come out. This is being done so that the Superstars of WWF have a good holiday until 2002 as they'll be off as of Saturday night until the 3rd of January where they'll be on the road non-stop for a live SmackDown! on the 3rd and house shows on the 4th, 5th & 6th. Raw will be live from MSG on the much ballyhooed 7th and again from New York on the 8th for the SmackDown! tapings. -As you know, Shawn Micheals was on Excess last night and was a treat to watch. He answered various emails from fans that mostly centred around his favorate matches, Triple H and the kliq. To that same Kliq question wondering if we'll ever see himself, Hall and Nash on WWF TV again, Michaels replied by saying that "The WWF couldn't handle them all being in one place." He says that he still talks to Hall and Nash regularly but wrestling is the last thing they talk about as their families come frst these days. Micheals also had nothing but complimentary things to say about HHH and his desire after his (HHH's) U2 piece was shown. 'From the vault' this week featured HBK's first world title win again Bret Hart at WrestleMania 12. He said that was his biggest moment because whoever you are in teh WWF, you want to be that #1 guy. that night, he was it and he was overcome with emotion. He said that he knows how Chris Jericho feels right now because being crowned the WWF champion and now undisputed champion is a great, great honor. Of the stars that he's looking at right now that are making waves and could make waves int eh future are The Hardy boys, Edge and Christian. Kurt Angle, Jericho and Chris Benoit. He said these men are the future of the industry. On whether or not he would return to wrestling, he said that it all depends on the Doctors and "the boss" (his wife) whether he can return or not. It's not his decision to make. Of course he'd like to come back and mentioned that he'd love to take on Kurt Angle, Triple H and Jericho if he were to. He also mentioned that he'd love to see a match betweeh Ric Flair and himself in their primes. Michaels came across as humble and had nothing but nice things to say about everything he was asked. He was especially kind toward Bret Hart and said that he could think of no one else he'd rather work with than he. He also said that it was a great honor forhim to compete in the first ever, Ladder Match, Iron-Man match, Hell In a cell, etc. That's what makes him the most happy as a retired wretler is to be able to say that. The PPV will mark WWA's first show in the United States. It is however not known if all the talent that appeared for WWA's UK and Australian shows will be on hand. -On a recent radio show, XWF's Jimmy Hart confirmed that the promotion is in negotiations to get a television deal in big markets. Hart also stated that Vince McMahon had sent him a "Thank You" message for allowing Jerry Lawler to return to the WWF, despite being contracted to the XWF. -Don Callis has updated his online commentary and talks about Jericho finally being given "the ball".
