With his interests seemingly having turned to acting, including his role as Bonesaw McGraw in next summer's Spider-Man movie, and his on- going deal over the promotion of Slim Jims, many thought that Savage would never don his wrestling boots again. Yet there he was Monday issuing a challenge to Hulk Hogan for a match through a sound file on 1Wrestling.com. Live reports indicate a dead crowd most of the night, mainly doing Whoo! and What chants. From Jarom Bartolome: After the show, Austin drank beers. He first asked for beers in the cage. Then he went outside, got most of his beer supply, and tossed it into the ring himself. He gave two beers to Jim Ross and one to a fan. He went inside the ring and started smashing the beers with his feet. Gave a beer to Hebner outside, then went back in, climbed the cage and encouraged to crowd to chant "What" while he looked at his invisible watch on his left hand, right hand, left hand, right hand. He left the ring, went up the ramp, harassed the camera guy for a few minutes, then went back to the ring. By this time most of the crowd got tired of seeing this and left. Austin made his way to the announce table again. He checked people's watches and Lillian Garcia was motioning Austin to go back, but Austin just looked at her. Austin finally went up top, grabbed that WWF.com logo, tried to do a pull up, but he couldn't even do one. Lillian laughed at him. -Backstage Raw notes from last night: *Rob Van Dam was at Raw last night. He just was not used on the show. *Many of the former Alliance members who were not used on the show were not backstage however. Guys like Dallas Page, Raven and Tommy Dreamer went home for the second consecutive week, with the WWF's blessing. Last week, the WWF started to let the guys that were not in the TV plans go home, allowing them more time with their families, but also allowing them to save on road expenses. *Some of the talent, such as Justin Credible and Hurricane Helms, did stay for the show however. There are some who feel that if they are there, and workers are needed for something on the show, they will be there to fill the slot. *For those curious, Spike Dudley was fine after his match with the Undertaker. The talk in the back was how much of a stud Spike was for taking the spots that he did in the match. As anyone who saw him in ECW will tell you, the guy is tough as nails. *HHH was backstage and more and more is taking on an "office" position with the company. -The poster for the Rock's upcoming movie "The Scorpion King" is now online. Howard did his usual spiel with her and then they talked about getting together and heading to a bar called Scores some time. Stacy wanted to bring some WWF guys with her, but Howard told her no. He just wants her there. So, she said she would bring Torrie (Wilson) with her instead. They decided to do it on a Wednesday when Stacy is in NY. -Hey, has anyone noticed the champions these days in the WWF? *Chris Jericho, Winnipeg Manitoba - WWF Undisputed World Champion *Edge, Toronto, Ontario - WWF Intercontinental Champion *Trish Stratus, Toronto, Ontario - WWF Women's Champion *Christian, Toronto, Ontario - WWF European Champion OHHHHHH CANADA! He said that he has been getting so many calls, he changed his phone number. He stated that he is an employee of AOL Time Warner and he is loyal to them. He also said that it is hard to go to the mailbox every two weeks. He had a smirk on his face while he said this. Earlier tonight, at the World Wrestling Federation's ``Vengeance'' Pay-Per-View at the sold-out San Diego Sports Arena, Chris Jericho became the undisputed champion of all professional wrestling. In controversial fashion, Jericho defeated, in separate matches, World Champion The Rock and World Wrestling Federation Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin, to unify those two titles for the first time. Earlier in the evening, Austin had defeated Kurt Angle to set up his match with Jericho. Jericho begins his historic title reign Monday night on RAW on TNN at 9 p.m. (EDT) broadcast live from Arrowhead Pond in Anaheim, Calif. World Wrestling Federation Entertainment, Inc. (NYSE: WWF - news) is an integrated media and entertainment company headquartered in Stamford, Conn., with sales offices in New York City and Chicago, and Toronto. Editor's note: For more background on the history behind the World Wrestling Federation Championship and the World Championship, go to http://www.wwfvengeance.com/release.html ===================================================================== Comment//============================================================ Vile Thoughts I just finished Vengeance, and decided to try (And I stress try) to put together some well chosen(?) words about the event. There were two things that surprised me about this rather ordinary event... (1) That Chris Jericho beat the Rock and (2) That he beat Austin. I will admit, I picked Jericho to finish fourth in this competition and I was more wrong than Monica Lewinsky when she believed that Clinton really loved her. Well, they've decided to give Jericho the torch; let's see what he can do with it. I thought he was settling in pretty well as a heel, and now he has the title. We also saw the beginning of the real feud between Vince and the Nature Boy as well. I believe it when they say these two are going to end up in the ring at Wrestlemania. During the event, I was shooting the bull with the normal cast of characters that show up at my place for the events, and the whole night, I was running over scenarios with them. Would Trish screw Rock? Would Flair screw Austin? Would Triple H screw Austin. Has it come to this? Does every big match have to have a screwjob ending so that we will keep trying to figure out who will screw who? At least Angle did the clean job to Austin, which of course I didn't think would happen either. I had Austin losing to Angle via the screw job, Rock beating Jericho, and then Angle winning again by screw job. So that made me 0-3. That wouldn't get me a job anywhere in the majors except for the Tigers. To me, the best moment of the week was Smackdown. Finally, some classic humor has come back to the WWF. I was really hoping JR would get to humiliate Vince, considering their real life history. But was there a better sight than Vince being shoved into Rikishi's black hole? A quick question: When did the fans decide that "What?" was cool? Now, the real fun begins. They are apparently dead set on this two company thing, and I ranted about two PPV's last week. My buddy asked me a very important question. And I'd like to know how the WWF "brain trust" will answer this one. If you have one "Undisputed" Champion, and two companies, what does one company do for a champion? I think I'll leave you all with that one to ponder. If you have any interesting suggestions, I'd like to hear them.
