The show was scheduled to open on 12/18 for a three night run and would have been Joanie "Chyna" Laurer's official stage debut as an actor. The producers of the show Birdcage Productions' released the following statement from Brian Bird on their website, "Due to circumstances beyond our control, Birdcage must postpone our current production of My Darling Judith. There are no words to describe the support that Joanie Laurer has given Birdcage. She is a true talent and a true friend. I hope to continue production on this project in the near future." The 1994 game was the one where the Huskies ended Miami's 58-game home winning streak, as well as shocking the Miami defense. Many of the Miami defense had their pre-game comments played, including Ray Lewis, and The Rock. Rock, who was listed as Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, commented on the winning streak and how they were going to defend the Orange Bowl. It was interesting to see Rock 7 years ago, and see him now today. If you are interesting in booking Balls, you can email him at BallsMahoney72@aol.com. -Since his retirement match last month, former ECW Triple Crown winner Mikey Whipwreck says he's been "doing great" and enjoyed a "well needed" vacation to Hawaii with his wife. Whipwreck decided to retire after a series of nagging injuries became too much to bear with a regular in-ring schedule, especially when he had an outside the industry job offer. In fact, the worst part of retirement is the continuous stream of questions from fans asking when he's getting back in the ring. Whipwreck has no such plans, but will still be involved in the wrestling business. On 12/15, he will be commentating for USA Pro Wrestling's event in Mineola, New York for the promotion's home video release of the show. Whipwreck has also opened up his own wrestling academy in Long Island, New York. Whipwreck has trained Northeastern standouts the SATs, Red, and Chris Devine. Many of you know that I was gone because I underwent major reconstruction of my lower spine. I want to thank every one of you that sent your best wishes for my recovery. For those of you that weren't aware of my surgery, I can tell you that after suffering for a long time, I finally went to see world renown neurosurgeon Dr. Phineas D. Dudley, at the Dudleyville Hospital for Spinal Reconstruction, in Beautiful Downtown Lower Dudleyville, to get a second opinion. He agreed that surgery was necessary and was ready to perform it. Despite his credentials I chose to have it done here in sunny Florida. I am still recovering and undergoing Physical Therapy. I can only sit for short periods of time so it will still be awhile until I resume writing full time. I know you can hardly wait and have been sitting on the edge of your seats waiting for my return ... mine and The Red Rooster's. I want to discuss the drop off in the WWF's TV ratings and PPV buy rates. I have read many Articles on the subject over the past month. Several blame the problem on the story lines not being interesting. I can tell you I see many comments from fans saying they enjoy the current story lines. Still others have different explanations. What I have seen is the same trend I seen over the years. That is that fans come and go. There is that hard-core group of wrestling fans that stick with it no matter what; then there are the fans that become interested and after time lose interest. Maybe being a fan is the "in thing" to do at any given time and then something else comes along. My Mailing List changes as often as I change my Acme Undies, product of The Acme Underwear and Guided Missile Company, Division of The Acme Corporation. It is like Internet Wrestling Newsletters; they come and they go, but certain ones will always be around. Not to worry, wrestling is safe. It will always have the hard-core fans and something will happen that will bring the short term fans back. As far as story lines go, I want to relate my experience of this past Tuesday. I had a problem with my cable box and the repairman came out. As it happens he was a wrestling fan and we got into a discussion. He asked me if Lita and Matt Hardy were really dating. When I told him it was part of a story line, he was quite surprised. He then said "well at least HHH and Stephanie are really married." He believed the wedding had really happened and they were in fact man and wife. He was shocked when I laid the truth on him. I told him Stone Cold Steve Austin and Debra were really married, and that Torrie Wilson and Billy Kidman had just tied the knot. We talked about Kurt Angle's turn at Survivor Series and his being the mole. He was quite proud that he had figured that one out. The point is that story lines may be more believable to some than you or I like to think. If that be the case, the WWF is doing a fairly good writing job. Heck, there may be some people who still believe the earth is flat. The late, great P.T. Barnum* once said: "There's a sucker born every minute." As long as there are people who buy into what wrestling is selling, wrestling will sell. That's it, short and hopefully sweet.
