As mentioned in yesterday's report, the Thanksgiving night ratings can be thrown out the window. Last year's Smackdown only drew a 3.26 rating and that's when the show was far more popular than it is now. -Steve Austin vs. William Regal will be the semi-main event on Monday night's Raw from Oklahoma City. -Expect major TV pushes in the next few weeks for Van Dam and Edge. -Insiders are not sure why the Rob Van Dam-Rock promo was pulled from last night's show. My only guess, and it's just that, is that RVD kind of played a stoner-surfer dude in the bit and the WWF may not have wanted to air it because Rock said he was out "in space". -Stacy Keibler will be the guest on Excess this week. -TJ Madigan of the Toronto Sun has written a great article on the WWF and their future in sotrylines. Vince and Linda McMahon, HHH, Kurt Angle, Stacy Keibler, Mighty Molly, Lilian Garcia, Coach and Good Old J.R. had the privilege of participating in he 75th annual turkey day event. We met at a New York City hotel at 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, left for the lining up of the parade at 7 a.m. and made NBC's national broadcast of the event at approximately 11:30 a.m. We finished up by around 12:30 p.m. I think this was a good thing for the WWF, and the float certainly seemed to be well received by those attending. I would also like to thank whoever had the idea of putting so many port-a-John's along the early stages of the parade route. Injury update, without "cryptic" messages. For "cryptic" messages, please read backwards. *Chris Jericho has a deep heel bruise that will limit his physical activity this weekend. Was hurt early in his match with Kane on Raw. *As for Mike Awesome, an MRI confirmed a torn ACL, which will require major surgery, which is scheduled for early to mid-December and will sideline Mike about six months. *William Regal will have a cat-scan done to address his nose bleeds. *Rikishi will be reporting next week to Cincinnati to work on his conditioning. It is not expected he will be back in the WWF until January. *Chris Benoit looks to be about three months away from returning from neck surgery. *Shawn Stasiak has re-occurring fluid on his knee which will require the removal of the bursa sac in the next few weeks. Not a major surgery, but it will require 2-3 weeks recovery time. *Chris Kanyon is doing physical therapy daily and is on target to return in approximately four months, maybe longer. *X-Pac is going to therapy to address his neck condition. His surgeon indicated there is not new damage to the neck. X-Pac will work on strengthening his neck before he returns to work. *Triple H is making significant progress from quadiceps surgery. Originally, it was thought he would be back in the ring by mid- December, but, based on Dr. Andrews' evaluation, he may be held back until January. Triple H will be meeting with Andrews and staff soon to determine his date of return. As this item will be probably over- analyzed, "wrestle-speak" you know, Triple H's return will be decided by Dr. Andrews' evaluation, which could see The Game available for Dec. 9's Vengeance (yes, the event's poster is misleading) or he could return a few weeks later. *Raven, Tommy Dreamer and Tajiri will work in Puerto Rico the weekend of Dec. 14. *Great to have Jerry Lawler back in the broadcast booth after several months away from the WWF. The King has a different approach than Paul Heyman, who still has great value as a T.V. character in the future. *Rico Constantino, Randy Orton, Brock Lesnar and Ron Waterman are all showing signs of improvement working WWF house shows and dark matches at T.V. All their attitudes are excellent. *Sharmell Sullivan did a nice job in the pre-tape room at the last set of T.V.'s and looks to have potential as an interviewer. She will continue to train in OVW for the next few weeks, perhaps longer. *Ric Flair's return to T.V. has been well received, and I am sure the "Nature Boy" will get more involved in storylines as time goes on. There are no immediate plans for Ric to return to the ring, but that always remains a viable option in the future. *Triple H is taping Fox's MadTV next week with a Dec. 8 air date. Triple H also appears on the syndicated show "The Other Half", which is scheduled to air Nov. 29. *Rhyno will be doing some charity work while rehabbing from neck surgery. *On Dec. 12,13,14, Test, Matt and Jeff Hardy, Lita, Jackie and Molly will tape NBC's "Fear Factor" with the air date TBD. *David Flair is working hard in OVW and is making definite improvement. David has essentially started over in Louisville and we are very pleased with his work ethic and attitude. That Test can take any match and slow it way down to give a person time to take a snack break and come back and miss nothing at all. See there is some good in Test. All right all right, that's my one and only pick on Test remark for the rest of the column. Wait let me add one more thing and I promise I'll leave him alone for today. Other than shoving Test down our throats with ru-ins and back stage vignettes I thought Smackdown was fun to watch. Ric Flair and Vince did a great job getting Vengeance ready with Rock vs. Y2J and Austin vs. Angle winner of each match meeting one on one to unify the World Championship and the WWF Championship titles. Ric looks thrilled to be back on television and he and Vince seem to work off each other well. There was a lot of Vince last night especially back stage with his "family members;" Test, Dudley's, and Christian. There was also the debut of Sharmell Sullivan formerly known as Paisley. The King was back announcing with Michael Cole. And of course no Heyman, Shane or Stephanie. The three best matches of the night had to be Angle vs. Undertaker. Christian vs. Edge for the IC title and the main event with RVD and Rock vs. Jericho and the Dudley's. The worst matches were yes Test vs. Scottie Too Hottie although Scottie thankfully put life into what could have been a real dud. Tazz hanging on to Big Show with the Tazzmission only to fall back on top of Tazz and get the win. And the Gravy Match. Of course you guys probably drooled over it, but it wasn't exactly a 5 star match. But thankfully Trish held on to keep the title. Seriously, the ones I mentioned above made the rest of the show entertaining. Angle and Taker put on a great match, and again it ended kind of weird. Prior to the match Taker let Vince know how pissed he was that he didn't confide in him that Angle was the mole. Vince wanted to make it up to him and told Taker he could have Angle for the main event. Well it wasn't the main event but the match was on. At the end when Taker was putting the ankle lock on Angle, Vince ran in with a chair, but Taker turned before Vinny could use it. Taker and Vince just stared at Undertaker said how he wants is respect, and left. There's Vince looking at Taker with one of those evil smiles again. So that leaves me wondering what's in store for Taker. Christian and Edge's match was terrific and kind of ruined by the interferance of my man Test. And I would have felt the same way no matter who ran in. I wish it would have ended cleanly but it looks like Test and Edge aren't done yet. Wow I'm thrilled. Rock and RVD vs. Jericho and The Dudley's were great. I thought by far the match of the night. What I liked even more than the match was the fact that Y2J is such a perfect heel it becomes him so well. It's something I've waited for a long time, and I'm so happy it's finally happened. It was great seeing him do the Rock Bottom on the Peoples Champion and get the win. This just makes for the match between him and Rock at Vengeance even more fun to watch. And as nice as seeing Jericho turn it's also nice seeing Austin turn. He's still doing What, but now the fans are with him and he's taking no crap from anybody. Regal called him out last night blaming Austin for having to kiss Vince's ass. Austin came out covered his nose because Regal smelled like crap and humiliated Regal even more. He then ended it with a stunner and the fans loved it. The best part was seeing Vince's family come out and beat the hell out of Austin. Last night solidified the heel turns of Angle, Vince and Y2J, and Austin's and I guess you could even say RVD's face turns. I think with Ric Flair adding to the whole mix there is a definite new and positive feeling watching the shows. I would have liked to have seen more meaningful matches but the show for me still was worth watching. I'm looking forward to Raw on Monday and Vengeance in 16 days. I think the fans at the arena are a lot more pumped up, and I think with Vengeance so close we are going to see some pretty good shows coming up in the next two weeks. I have to be honest with you I'm enjoying the Alliance members being off, although I wish Booker was involved. But I think it was a smart move, and from what I've read in a few weeks they will be rewritten back in. And supposedly going off on their own. Boy I can't wait to see how that works out, I hope it's a total success.
