Yesterday, a charge of uttering a threat to cause bodily harm to Smith's brother-in-law Bruce Hart was withdrawn by the Crown. Smith's lawyer, Alain Hepner, said his client would be "absolutely" pleased with the development. Smith didn't attend yesterday's hearing at provincial court. He had denied allegations he made threats against Hart. As most fans know, Philadelphia used to be the homebase for the Extreme Championship Wrestling promotion of which RVD was a major part of. -Ric Flair said on a recent radio interview in Charlotte that he hadn't been contacted by the WWF until November 9, and that he didn't sign a contract until just before he appeared on RAW. Funny thing is that McMahon is the only one with something listed as to who he is, as if people might not know him, but they'd know everything else on the ballot, most of whom aren't close to as well known as Vince. Here's the way I look at it. In a year which he produced some of the lowest rated network TV shows (XFL), botched the most potentially lucrative angle in wrestling history, saw his wrestling business run off more long-term fans than any period in modern history, he still ended up making money in the last quarter which is more than can be said for a lot of major companies these days. -Even down in HWA, they are playing off the Alliance losing storyline. At Tuesday's HWA taping, HWA's commissioner noted that the WCW superstars wouldn't be in attendance due to the Alliance losing at Survivor Series. It is unknown if this is just a storyline that HWA will play off, or if most of the developmental talent will get ready for a call up with the upcoming split promotions deal.
