Lawler disputed those claims in a phone conversation with PWTorch.com. "There is no truth to that whatsoever," Lawler said. "I do have a deal with the XWF, though." Lawler put over the XWF and said he enjoyed working with Tony Schiavone on commentary. He said he believes the XWF will become a viable promotion. At the same time, Lawler said he would love to return to the World Wrestling Federation. "Who wouldn't?" he asked. "All I can say is that I do not have a deal with the WWF." Despite Lawler's denials, at least one PWTorch.com source believes Lawler will make his WWF return soon: "My bet is that Jerry played the old 'I forgot my contract, but I will fax it to you on Monday' game with the XWF. I'm willing to bet that there is no way he would sign anything that would prevent him from returning." Lawler also told PWTorch.com that he is in the process of updating his website, KingLawler.com. He is planning to feature photos of his XWF experience and will likely address the WWF rumors later today. Apparently talent co-ordinator Jim Ross was the one who made the decision, but did so without the permission of the creative staff and they are not planning to use Rico on WWF TV anytime soon. -The Torch also reports that Jeff Hardy was fined last week due to arriving late at the Smackdown tapings. -Chyna will NOT be the mystery opponent in the Women's Six Pack challenge at Survivor Series. As reported earlier, the most likely candidates are Jazz or Victoria. -Maven and Rikishi are scheduled for December appearances in Heartland Wrestling Association. -Bradshaw was talkin' stocks over at teh E*Trade website recently. Some of the top names are using the World Wrestling All-Stars group to put pressure on the XWF to offer long-term contracts. XWF told some that the company is hoping to run its first house show in December and plans to tape television monthly beginning in January. There are also pay-per-view plans in the works. -Mike Graham worked as an agent at the XWF tapings. -Hulk Hogan told friends at the XWF tapings he was interested in working for the WWF, but passed because Vince McMahon wanted him to work 250 dates per year. Hogan's claim is laughable since WWF officials have gone on record saying they would use Hogan as an occasional "special attraction." Even if the WWF were to offer Hogan a 15-date per month contract, he would still only work 180 shows per year. -Barbarian, Four-by-Four (Teddy Reade), and Fred Ottman (a/k/a Tugboat, a/k/a Typhoon) appeared at the XWF tapings as Rena Mero's bodyguards. -87 exclusive XWF photos can now be found at http://www.sooperfriends.org Source// the torch, 1wrestling ===================================================================== News from the rest of pro-wrestling//================================ -Ric Flair's AOL-Time Warner deal runs through until February. Many feel that Flair would be willing to take a 50 cents on the dollar cut since he is only a few months away from being released from that contract anyway. 1wrestling notes that Flair would be able to make the amount up that he lost through getting out of his contract by signing a long-term deal with the WWF anyway. As of this stage, no deal has yet to be signed. -Scott Hall and Kevin Nash are still unhappy with the WWF's offer to work 15 dates per month as well as low downside guarantees. If I don't mention a particular superstar, it is simply because there is no new information to report. The "major surgery guys" -- Chris Benoit, Triple H, etc. -- are all doing very well in their therapy, and all are still on target to come back on the same time frames that we've previously discussed. *An MRI today confirmed that Mike Awesome tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), an injury he has suffered in the past. The injury occurred during a non-televised event (house show) on Saturday night. The MRI results do not say if the tear is complete or partial. He also has a cartilage tear and strains in both his medial collateral ligament (MCL) and posterior cruciate ligament (PCL). Awesome will visit the doctor on Monday and discuss both surgical and non-surgical options. *Booker T has been having some lower back pain -- essentially, in laymen's terms, muscle spasms. He's been getting therapy on the road and at home. He won't miss any TV time. *Hugh Morrus is scheduled for an MRI one week from today to see what's causing the pain in his shoulder. Hugh will remain active until we get the test results. *X-Pac, also known as Sean Waltman, is waiting to see his surgeon, Dr. Haymes, on Dec. 7. Hopefully the appointment can be rescheduled for sooner. In the meantime, X-Pac has begun rehab to strengthen his neck. We'll keep our fingers crossed for his next examination. *Rhyno is doing great at home. His hip -- which is where they removed bone to fuse into his neck -- hurts more than his neck, which is a good sign. He's wearing a neckbrace and will be visiting San Antonio to see Dr. Lloyd Youngblood in about three months. The target date for Rhyno's return is at least six months from now, depending on how well he heals. *Rikishi continues to do weight training and rehab at home. After doing the Yokozuna tribute show on Nov. 28 in Allentown, Pa., he'll be going to Cincinnati until about Dec. 19 for training. Rikishi's estimated return is after the first of the year; could be Royal Rumble, but that has not been determined. His weight is a concern. *As we've mentioned on several occasions, Scotty 2 Hotty is having some neck pain, but the doctor hasn't recommended surgery at this time; he'll need it eventually. But Scotty will be doing physical therapy much more aggressively at home and on the road to help his own cause. *Chris Kanyon had ACL surgery a few weeks ago. He's doing his physical therapy every day and he'll be out of action four to six months. Kanyon's got a great upside in my estimation. I think he's been very untapped here. Maybe this injury will allow him to get a fresh start. *Taka Michinoku is in Japan visiting his mother and doing some rehab on his surgically repaired shoulder. Recovery time is about four months. *In Cincinnati, Russ Haas is following doctor's orders and seems to be doing very well. But we're certainly going to get at least one more opinion, if not two, from independent cardiologists to see how he's progressing. He looks like he may have dodged a bullet. We certainly knock on wood and hope for that to be true. *Johnny The Bull now has a smaller cast on his broken thumb. He's working with it as best as he can down in Cincinnati. *JR then goes into his thoughts on each Survivor Series match this Sunday for several pages and adds "I understand there may be other matches added. We'll find out on MTV's Sunday Night HEAT at 7/6 CT." *I thought SmackDown! overall was a very solid show that promoted Survivor Series in a very emotional and thorough way. The main event reminded me of old-school matches when I first got in the business, where the story was very clear and there was a lot of emotion and star-power. A really good main event to a really good SmackDown! *Certainly a lot of talk about Paul Heyman's interview on SmackDown! As a fan, I thought it was just tremendous. It was reminiscent of some of his more emotional work in the late 1980s and early 90s when we worked together in the old WCW. I've had many on-air confrontations with him as broadcast partner in the old WCW and of course here as well. The guy has got great passion and he really knows how to reach his audience in his style. Paul does have that dark side. The character "Paul E." is easy to dislike, and that was never more illustrated than in Thursday's monologue. Very compelling television. I hope we have a lot more of it as time goes on. Certainly Paul Heyman, depending on how things work out at Survivor Series, could end up being one of the more vocal, visible individuals on any broadcast. *He enjoyed his time in Vegas ans says that Tough Enough two will be even better than the first. *I'm going to be riding on the World Wrestling Federation's float in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade this Thursday. It's an honor to be in the parade, especially in New York City, where so many tragic things have happened. *I'll be back next Friday. Take care. Spend some good time with your family. Have a great Thanksgiving. Go Sooners! (Editors note: I guess then that he's not as worried about his job as he leads on TV eh?) ===================================================================== Comment//============================================================ Vile Thoughts It's me!! It's me!! It's V-I-L-E!! (Followed by shit eating grin) Hey, I had to do it once. We may not be seeing him again after this weekend, and the roster purge to follow. Anyway before my main rant, a few observations on this week's WWF programming. The Weakest Link was quite cool. Although I must say some of the wrestlers shouldn't quit their day jobs. I won't mention any names (Booker T., Big Show, Lita) I must say though, they all looked like they had a great time. Is it just me, or is Matt Hardy turning heel? (That's a keen sense of the obvious there.) In sad news, my heart, and the heart of every hornball on the planet was saddened by the news of the engagement of Torrie Wilson to Billy Kidman. Even though it is depressing beyond words, here's hoping you have a successful marriage. Memo to the Big Show: When did you get a personality? That parody of DDP ranks up there with some of the best of all time. Making fun of DDP; THAT'S A GOOD THING!! Keep this up, and I may just have to LIKE YOU!! And now on to the meat and potatoes of this mindless drivel. It was a pretty decent week between Raw and Smackdown. Why does it always seem that the WWF brass waits until the fans are on the verge of apathy before they change things around? Vince is like the classic wounded animal-that's when he is his most dangerous. But why does he wait until it gets to that pont. Wouldn't consistency be better? I know, in a prefect world, terrorism wouldn't exist, there would be no recessions, there would be peace and harmony among the masses, Direct TV would still have PPVs, and PPVs would be cheaper. Raw had great matches for a change, and a new compelling plot line. Instead of waiting for one big pay per view to unify all the titles, the desperation of the WWF has lead to two unification matches at Survivor: US vs. Intercontinental, and the tag belts. We also saw a great bit at the end with Rock and Austin. Smackdown was great, especially the final segment. What a car wreck that looked like. However, I have a couple of questions regarding two matches signed for Survivor.. (1) Why is the women's title back? Does anyone really care? And who is the mystery chick? (2) Is Richard Hatch going to ref the 20 man over the top rope battle royale for immunity? And lastly, one of the greatest moments in sports entertainment. I know it was a work, but Paul Heyman's tirade was one of the greatest segements I have ever seen. Yes, it was a work, but you could see some real emotion there too. Don't you think Verne Gagne was cheering in Minnesota? How about Jim Crockett? Or Cowboy Bill Watts, or all the others that got crushed by Vince. I kind of liken it to an old bit Andrew Dice Clay used to do. When talking about men and women, he would say men would take their woman to see Dice because he would say everything to them that they wanted to say, but never really had the balls to say it. As for Survivor itself, with all these unification matches, the WCW show seems DOA, so the WWF should win. But how? That's one thing we will have to wait on until Sunday, because I will admit it right here, right now. I have no freaking clue. Don't forget, this is the last week for nominations for the Vile Achievement Awards 2001. ===================================================================== Remember...========================================================== -Remember that if you've missed any TV Shows, PPV's or more?
