Dave Meltzer reports that the WWF have big plans for a new angle on Monday, and that since RAW is in Charlotte, NC, Flair would be the key person in this angle. Flair and the WWF have held talks over the past few months, but they apparently aren't as serious as they are now. The only problem is if Flair can get out of his Time Warner contract in time for Monday. This is NOT a done deal however. Source// 1wrestling ===================================================================== News from the WWF//================================================== -According to Dave Meltzer, Vince McMahon and Mick Foley agreed last week to part ways, in business terms. Foley's RAW promo was used as a way to write Foley out of the storylines and this may bethe last time we see Foley on WWF TV, as has been previously reported. However, since last week, the two have apparently been on better terms and Foley may be used next week to write him out of storylines in a more convincing fashion. -According to Nielsen Media Research, Smackdown scored an overnight broadcast rating of 4.5, with a 6.0 share. -The WWF has posted an article on how The Rock and Bill Gates were together at WWF New York yesterday to promote the launch of the X- Box. To read the article, click http://www.wwf.com/news/headlines/1093762 -Paul Heyman's shoot-style promo was designed to shock viewers of Smackdown with some strong, genuine-seeming emotion - something missing from WWF programs lately. Although the Rock vs. Steve Austin segment was highly praised by many (albeit about 30 percent longer than ideal), it didn't hard-sell the issues that sell the PPV on Sunday. Heyman's promo definitely hard-sells those issues. The question is, are Heyman's comments "too insider" or too narrowly aimed at disgruntled former ECW and WCW viewers who have long since turned out of WWF programming? McMahon is generally against shoot- style comments within wrestling storylines, so it surprised some wrestlers (whose ideas for shoot-themed promos have been vetoed in recent weeks and months) that Heyman was allowed to get away with that - especially since McMahon has been anything but receptive to Heyman's ideas in recent weeks. -The Torch reports that The Paul Heyman promo that was taped Tuesday and aired last night was edited. Not everything Heyman said made it to the airwaves. When Vince McMahon first walked into the ring, Heyman said, "I'm not the one that lifts up my leg and pees all over the memories of Bruno Sammartino or Superstar Billy Graham." I loved the ending with each guy that will be in Sunday's main event, coming in doing their finishing move and even better was the smiles shared between Austin and Vince. What the hell does THAT mean? Anyway some good things tonight, I think I liked Raw better, but Smackdown did provide some good entertainment. Also another bright spot was the Billion Dollar Princess was only on for about 2 minutes, and Paul Heyman's promo which I timed to be almost the 12 minutes it was supposed to be was DYNAMITE. I'll tell you Smackdown did the job for making me definitely want to order Survivor Series. Hey JR and Michael Cole were just about saying goodbye. They let us know this could be the last Smackdown and it's been a hell of ride. Where's my Kleenex when I need it? I think with Heyman's promo and the very end of the main event the buy-rate should be a decent one. As far as the matches go the main event was by far the best. Let me run through the matches last night and ,then I will get back to the tag team match with Rock and Jericho vs. Austin and Angle. Undertaker's and Booker's really never got going, But Taker's enthusiasm for a WWF win on Sunday was very entertaining. Tonight there were quite a few run-ins probably because of Sunday's PPV. So Kane vs. RVD might have been better if Booker didn't interfere. Golden Boy Shane interfered with a chair-shot to Big Show in his match against DDP. Trust me that run in by Shane didn't hurt anything, it was a two second beating started by DDP after he saw Big Show making fun of him. Show had on a blonde wig and bright white false teeth. I would like to see it was funny, but it really wasn't. Show's been funnier. Test and The Dudley's with Stacey vs. Edge, Matt and Jeff Hardy with Lita was again something we've seen time and time again. Edge added a lot to it, Test added hmmmmmmm let me think. My mind is a blank. Anyway as far as the Dudley's vs. The Hardy's go on Sunday, I'm hoping that their cage match will be original and extremely entertaining to watch because I don't think I could stand to see them in another typical tag team match. Now at the end of this match, Stacey was on the apron Lita punched her causing Stacey to fall into Matt's arms. Matt quickly dropped her and tried to tell Lita it was nothing. As Lita is looking at him the Dudley's are ready to give Lita the 3-D. Matt tries to warn her, and pull her out, but lovely Stacey is holding on to his leg. Lita gets it, and Matt immediately rushes to her side. He comforts her and tells her the Dudley's will never do that to her again, and they kiss. I found all of this to be a little too mushy for me, if you know what I mean? Anyway then they hug, and you see Matt with a Vince McMahon face. You know evil eyes and kind of a wicked grin. I'm hoping he turns on Sunday or better yet Lita turns, either way it would make for a more interesting story. William Regal was in fine form last night. He made a match with Ivory and himself against Tajiri and Torrie Wilson. He also told Ivory that their will be a Women's title match at Survivor Series. Lita, Trish and Jackie vs. Ivory, Molly and a special guest. Well the first name that comes to my mind is Stephanie, but I have a friend who thinks it might be Chyna. God I hope not. My second choice would be Jazz from ECW. She and Lita having been working house shows, but I still have a feeling Steph might be the one. Regal also met with Gregory Helms AKA The Hurricane and told him about the Immunity Battle Royale. That's where there's 20 guys in the ring and whom ever wins cannot get fired for a year no matter what company he's with. As far as the main event goes it was ACTION, ACTION, ACTION. All four did a great job; the fans WERE really into it. And what a finally, Taker comes out, Booker comes out, Show comes out, RVD comes out and Shane comes out and as I said each doing their specialty with Shane's being a chair shot. Talk about excitement, my God it was great, and to end it with Austin remaining the last man standing, and Vince smiling at him on the ramp and Austin smiling right back certainly has to make you wonder what will happen on Sunday. I want to get back to Heyman's promo. As I said I think they kept most of it in. I have to give Paul a lot of credit because he really seemed to put his heart and soul into it. Especially when he blamed Vince for stealing most of his ideas from Heyman and ECW. I thought Heyman came on strong, and he kept telling or should I saying yelling at Vince saying WWF will be finished after Sunday. That made me think that's not going to happen. But this was a very volatile promo and I really thought it ended great when Heyman said what so many WWF/ECW fans have been saying for nearly two years. And that has to do with what has happened to Tazz since he left ECW. Heyman said Tazz was a WRESTLER, and Vince took that away from him. He made him an announcer and not a very good one. This brought Tazz into the ring and he immediately choked Heyman out. I'll tell you Heyman's face was red. Good job Tazz. Vince then said you epitomize the Alliance because that's what's going to happen to them on Sunday they will choke. Vince left, and Tazz left. After break JR took Tazz's place because Tazz has left the building. So Raw was better, but Smackdown had things like Heyman's promo to get the fans going. I think this was a very promising week for wrestling fans. The mood has changed, it's definitely more upbeat and not your run of the mill shows we have seen for God knows how many months. I think Vince realizes change is good and the sooner the better. As far as the Survivor Series goes, I don't know what will happen on Sunday. But I'm ordering it; in fact I'm ordering it tomorrow so I don't screw up like I did last month. Sunday I will have my predictions, I bet none of you will be able to sleep just waiting to read them.
