It is expected that the vignettes will be used as part of the XWF's tapings this week in Orlando, FL. -Yesterday's Orlando Sentinel had a bit covering the WWF's layoffs from last week. Writer Jerry Greene wrote, "If you missed it, the World Wrestling Federation laid off nine percent of its 457 workers and demanded the resignation of the corporate president, Stuart Snyder. And a spokesman said this had nothing to do with the XFL, so don't ask. Stephanie McMahon, however, continues to expand as scheduled." Ouch. "We believe that by presenting the public with a cast of world- renowned wrestlers and personalities, while simultaneously signing and developing new talent that rivals the old heroes in skill, size and ability, we will provide pro wrestling fans with a new league of their very own," said XWF President John Flood in a press release. The list of talent includes several former World Championship Wrestling personalities who were not picked up by the World Wrestling Federation following their acquisition of the company in March, including Roddy Piper, the Road Warriors, Konnan, The Demon, Curt Hennig, Juventud Guererra, Bobby "The Brain" Heenan, Tony Schiavone and David Penzer. Former WCW wrestler Vampiro is the lone Canadian named to the roster thus far. Also slated to appear at the tapings are former WWF employees Jerry "The King" Lawler and Rena Mero (Sable). Hulk Hogan, according to the release, will make a "special appearance" at the tapings. Other wrestlers named on the roster include Buff Bagwell, The Nasty Boys, Psychosis, Greg "The Hammer" Valentine, Hail, "The British Storm" Ian Harrison, European Giant Drezden, Ray Gonzales, The Shane Twins, Kid Krash, and Christopher Daniels. Former WCW booker Kevin Sullivan will also be part of the XWF in a management role, while Jimmy Hart will be working in both an on and off-screen capacity. XWF tapings take place Tuesday, November 13, and Wednesday, November 14 at Universal Studios Florida. Admission is free. Wrestling ===================================================================== Article//============================================================ No WWF in Goldberg's future On WNNX in Atlanta this morning, Bill Goldberg discussed his status in wrestling and an upcoming appearance at a celebrity softball game at the Georgia Dome this Thursday. - Bill said there is nothing he would like more than to be wrestling right now, but he is in the enviable position to get paid for not working. He said that since the WWF didn't purchase all of the contracts from WCW, he's not working there. - He didn't want to go to the WWF and said he would be the biggest hypocrite if he went there. It's hard for him to advocate some of the stuff that goes on in the WWF. When Sting told Bill that he wouldn't feel comfortable letting his kids watch the WWF, Bill agreed with him. - Bill said he would get back in the game sometime, whether or not it's in the States or Japan. He mentioned the start-up group in Florida started by Jimmy Hart and Hulk Hogan (XWF) and how it looks like a go. He said the market is prime for competition and can't survive without it. - Bill said he was fortunate that he was in a situation where he doesn't have to wrestle at VFWs and small independents. - He will be playing softball at the 5th Annual Celebrity Softball Slam on Thursday Nov. 15 at the Georgia Dome to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Bill really likes the charity and is looking forward to the game. - Mentioned that he picked up the phone after Sept. 11 and called the recruiting office to sign up. They told him he was too old. - Bill took some questions from our troops on the USS Roosevelt. He encouraged them and told them how much he supported their efforts and how he thought they were doing a great job. One of the soldiers commented that he hoped to see Bill in the ring soon.
