If you look back at wrestlers who have gone into rehab, the reality is the vast majority don't end with happy endings. Source// Dave Meltzer ===================================================================== News from the WWF//================================================== -Top cable shows for last week: 1) Raw 4.1; 2) Pretty Woman 4.0; 3) Pop Secret (NASCAR) 400 3.6; 4) NFL Jets vs. Saints ESPN 3.4; 5) NBA Wizards vs. Knicks 3.4. -Dave Meltzer reports that the buyrate for August's SummerSlam was a 1.05 which equates to about 500,000 buys. SummerSlam 2000 garnered a 1.40 and '99's summer classic received a 1.47. Remember, this years event was marked by the big return of The Rock but didn't urge any buys. A disturbing trend. -There was some debate among readers whether Kurt Angle, during his ESPN interview a few days ago, directed a dig at RVD when he refused to mention the name of the person who cut him so badly he required stitches. Kurt Angle's non-WWF website (http://www.KurtAnglewwf.com) regularly e-mails newsletters to Kurt's fans. In the Oct. 28 newsletter, he addressed losing the three way at No Mercy, winning the U.S. Title the following night, and plugs an eBay auction of the boots he wore at Armageddon 2000. Also, in a bizarre addition to the normal news, his wife commented on his recent matches with RVD: Karen Angle: "I thought the triple threat match was a great match overall. My personal opinion is that RVD is not ready yet. I feel he is very careless! When these men step into the ring they are trusting the other person with their body. Even though RVD has been in the business for many years, I don't feel he can be trusted! Out of 5 matches with RVD there was only one match Kurt didn't have to have stiches, or was able to walk out without bleeding. As for Stone Cold, it is always entertaining to see my husband kick his butt. I am hoping the storyline somehow keeps Kurt and Steve together. I think the two of them together are very entertaining." -Yet another jab at Vinnie Mac. ESPN.com's sister site, Page 2, is celebrating its 1st anniversary, there is a poll on the site for its "MVP" of the year, who they've made fun of the most. Guess who's in the running, coming in strong at #3 so far? Vincent K. McMahon, with 7.4% behind Anna Kournikova. It says: Vision. Hey, who cares what America wants, Vince McMahon knew what America needed - the XFL. Without it, how much duller would our collective lives have been? On Page 2, the answer is: a lot. Among the items covered in the story are: Snyder was making $1.1 million a year, and received 300,000 stock options last year. The options are now worthless because of the stock's sharp slump. WWF has lost half it's value this year and closed yesterday at $11.07. Vince McMahon slashed his own bonus by 30 percent this year to $900,000 and received his regular salary of $1 million. Snyder recently borrowed $195,000 from the McMahons to buy a new home and will have to pay the loan back immediately at 7% interest. Snyder may be eligible to receive up to $900,000 on the remainder of his 3 year contract. His personal stake in the company through the 75,000 shares of stock he owns dropped from $1.6 million to $864,750 this year. WHAT THE F@#$!% DID I JUST SEE? You talk about a total lack of continuity. These shows had the continuity of a kid with A.D.D. This is the kind of writing that got Nitro replaced by Witchblade and Law and Order reruns. Smackdown was a total clusetrf**k, throwing the PPV into complete chaos. Let's review what we know at this point... (1) While the Alliance angle took off very well after Invasion, it has had the staying power of moldy cheese. (2) The WWF is trying to "Wrap up" the conflict at Survivor Series on November 18th. (3) Angle joins the Alliance, and Vince alleges someone will jump ship to the WWF at Survivor, and intimates that it's Austin. (4) Both sides are in turmoil as no one trusts anyone. Is it just me, or does point number 4 really take the luster off of the event? These two factions are going to, well for lack of a better word, war. Please excuse my loose use of the term. In a "Struggle for Survival", teamwork is essential. No one is going to believe either team can function at this point, so why have the match at all? Also, does it seem like this whole jumping sides thing has been really clouded? First Austin, then Angle. Now rumors are that Austin may go back, or Angle, or both. You can't keep track without a scorecard. And what's with Big Blow in the main event all of a sudden? Everyone assumes the WWF will win. But what if they didn't? What if Big Blow decided to side with his buddy Shane-O-Mac. Or what if Vince turned his back on the WWF, and merged with the Alliance? And what part will Triple H play in this saga? Once again, I will be interested to see them get out of this hole. What do you faithful readers think? What will happen at Survivor? With the Alliance taking center stage for so long, the WWF didn't give us any other real programs. The only one that has been interesting has been Rock vs. Jericho, and it has been damn good. We need writing like in the past. This is one thing I was afraid of, and was chastised for even thinking. With no competition, would the WWF get stale? The answer, unfortunately, is yes.
