Not only was Raw knocked out of the top position on the Oct. 22-28 Nielsen cable ratings chart by Thursday's Indianapolis at Kansas City NFL game but the numbers for Raw's first hour have now dropped into the "twos" rating level. Raw Is War (the first hour of Raw) could only manage to scrape up a 2.9 (3.05 million homes in America) while War Zone (the second hour of Raw) was slightly higher at a 3.3 (3.51 million homes in America). The 2.9 rating marks a new low for the WWF this year. Raw hasn't finished below a 3.0 rating since 1997. Each ratings point represents 1,055,000 households in the U.S. Source// SLAM! ===================================================================== News from the WWF//================================================== -The WWF sold 28,000 tickets today for the event on March 17, 2002 at Skydome in Toronto to preferred customers in a pre-sale, selling most of the expensive tickets and with the exception of some limited avails, most tickets left are in the $25 to $45 price range when they go on sale to the public. -Good news for WWF is that the Smackdown rating held up with a 3.9, good for fifth among the six networks, despite the regular monster competition and game five of the World Series thrown in. -There is a business article on WWFE at http://www.thestreet.com/_yahoo/markets/ericgillin/10003324.html. Some good points, other than attempting to use the move from USA to TNN as a reason for the decline in Raw ratings. Estimated six months or more out of action. *Kanyon had surgery Thursday under Dr. James Andrews for a torn ACL and estimated he'd be out four to six months *Taka Michinoku finally had the surgery on Tuesday on his chronically bad shoulder and will be out four to six months *X-Pac re-injured his neck and has very little range of motion and is in serious pain. He's out of action pending the results of tests *Scotty 2 Hotty had a consulation about his neck problems but won't be getting surgery and will continue wrestling *Steve Austin needed 18 stitches for the cut in the Smackdown match with Undertaker. That seems excessive *Shawn Stasiak is now having knee problems with fluid on the knee that has been trained twice in the past two weeks *Russ Haas' cardiologist thinks he'll be able to return to wrestnig in a few weeks, but they are trying to get a second opinion. Not exactly a condition you want to make a mistake on. *Brock Lesnar, Randy Orton, Ron Waterman and Rico Constantino are booked on the Lowell and Bridgeport shows this weekend, which also features the return of Eddy Guerrero *Jazz will work house shows starting next weekend against Lita *The contestants for Tough Enough II will be picked this week, on Wednesday and Thursday in Las Vgas *Lita has a photo shoot for Rolling Stone Magazine *They are doing another diva shoot in the Bahamas starting next week *Christian will be the guest on Excess next Saturday and Raven tomorrow back in its regular time slot for those of you who never miss any WWF programming. Edge will be the guest on Heat *WWF will have a float in the Thanksgiving day Macy's parade. ===================================================================== Comment//============================================================ Vile Thoughts In a personal sidebar, I got my Wrestlemania ducats today. Look out Toronto: The Vile is coming. Problem is, customs will probably 'Smell What the Vile is Cookin', and deny him access into Canada. Oh well. I was ready to blow a capillary after seeing Raw on Monday, and was ready to write a scathing editorial on the WWF and the Alliance. (Gee, The Vile writing an irrational column; Who would have ever guessed that?) After simmering down, and seeing some hot internet rumors about Kurt Angle, I have decided to refrain from offering too many opinions about the Olympic Hero/Zero joining the Alliance, but I will offer up two scenarios. (1) If they have Angle decide to ride out this Alliance gimmick, it means that the Alliance is dead in their minds. It means that no one that was previously in the Alliance could get enough interest or heat to make it worthwhile, and the only way to keep it in the limelight is to have WWF stars convert. (2) The Angle being an infiltrator in the Alliance makes sense. Many of you have seen or heard about the poster for the next PPV- Vengeance. In it, HHH is holding his trademark sledgehammer. Many think HHH will help the WWF and fight Austin at the next PPV. But then he would be against Steph-his alleged wife too. But if Angle turns on the Alliance and screws them, he screws Steph too. Then you could have HHH vs. Angle, thus tying in the "Vengeance" motif. Honestly, I don't know which way they're going. The whole infiltrator thing would be an interesting twist, while if Angle continues on with the Alliance, it's just going to be a new version of the NWO. You remember; when everyone and their mother had to be a part of it, and it was rammed down our throats until we wanted to vomit. I know it will be interesting to see Survivor just for the fact that I want to see how they're gonna get out of the hole they've dug. And once again, it is that time of year!! Time for the second annual Vile Achievement Awards. This years awards will truly be the voice of the fans as I am enlisting you to not only vote, but to send in nominations as well. This year's categories include..
