Wrestling on October 16th. In his email newsletter, Hart commented on the former NWA champ Jack Brisco's notion that Hart should have done the "time honored tradition" and job to Shawn Michaels at the Survivor Series in 1997. To the question "had anything comparable to the 'Montreal screwjob' that saw Hart lose the WWF title to Shawn Michaels in 1997 had happened during his day.", Brisco responded: "Not in the ring. They knew better...What does it mean, 'I can't drop the belt in Montreal because I'm from Canada?' He's from Calgary! That would be like me saying I couldn't drop the belt in Florida because I'm an American!" Among other things, Bret says: "It wasn't a question of losing in Canada, it was a question of losing to somebody who had no professionalism and no respect for me, or for any of his peers in the dressing room. They reportedly thought that it played out well and did a good job of keeping viewers interested from the beginning of the show until the end. -Linda McMahon has talked at length about the WWFE, storylines, ground zero and more at the WWF website. The paperwork indicates that casting is scheduled for Nov. 7-12 in Las Vegas, Nev. It also warn semi-finalists to "be ready to start filming the following week." Contestants chosen for the show will receive $300 per week during filming. Contest winners will receive one-year developmental contracts that pay $1,000 per week. The surgery will be performed by Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham. Kanyon injured the knee in a dark match on Monday night when he landed wrong on a face to face atomic drop delivered by Randy Orton. Sources tell us Orton felt bad about the injury after the match, but Kanyon insisted that it wasn't Orton's fault and that he simply landed wrong. Kanyon commented on the injury on his official website, and said "There are many things that bother me about this injury, but nothing would bother me more than if this freak accident did anything to hurt the career of Randy Orton. The injury is expected to keep Kanyon out of action for approximately 3 months. Source// Puroresu, 1wrestling, mojoradio.com ===================================================================== Article//============================================================ WWF grapplers urge students to overcome hardships, succeed By Christopher Hall - The Courier-Journal Last night at Freedom Hall, World Wrestling Federation grapplers squared off in front of thousands of screaming fans for the ''WWF Raw Is War'' spectacle. Earlier in the day, though, four of those wrestlers -- Tazz, Albert, and the tag team known as the Dudley Boys -- faced a very different audience -- a roomful of rebellious teenagers watched over by their teachers and counselors. The four wrestling stars arrived in Louisville early so they could visit students at the Bullitt County Day Treatment School in Shepherdsville. Students there have been removed from their home schools because of discipline problems. The wrestlers' appearance was part of a WWF program called ''Get REAL'' (Respect, Education, Achievement, Leadership). The wrestlers' goal is to persuade youngsters to stay out of trouble. About 60 students from grades six through 12 listened -- sometimes attentively -- to Tazz, then to the gigantic (6-8, 350- pound) Albert, then to Devon and Bubba Ray Dudley. When the students weren't attentive, the wrestlers were not afraid to show their displeasure. At one point, Tazz gruffly ordered them to stop talking, to sit up and quit slouching. Still, his message remained positive. ''I'm trying to tell you to be a leader,'' he said. ''Nobody wants to be a follower. . . . When you do what other people do because you want to be cool, or you want to chill with them, you're a follower,'' he said. ''Just remember you ain't gotta impress nobody but you.'' The entertainer-athletes' message also included advice to set short- term goals in order to reach long-term objectives. ''Please don't become a statistic. Become a success,'' admonished Devon Dudley, who said he had seen a friend stabbed to death during his own school days. ''That's the only way you'll ever prove the people who doubted you wrong.'' His tag-team partner, Bubba Ray Dudley, better known for his blank stare and table-splitting prowess than for his eloquence, spoke about the importance of education. ''If you don't have a foundation, you can't build a house. . . . Right now you're laying your foundation . . . and a lot of you are laying a weak foundation.'' The school's principal, Ray Smith, seemed impressed with the visitors. After the talk, he joked with Albert, a former special- education teacher, that jobs at the school would be waiting for the wrestlers when they finished their current careers. The students, including a few girls, seemed responsive to the message, and all four wrestlers were mobbed by autograph-seekers afterward. Bubba Ray made each student who requested an autograph first recount one thing he or she had learned that day. Even students who earlier had been the objects of the speakers' ire said they were impressed. One, a 17-year-old senior named Joe, said he was going to try to take the wrestlers' advice to heart and be more responsive to his father and his teachers. ''I think I should listen,'' he said.
