Highlights of the interview are: - Mick says he used to get offended if anyone called him an actor, these days he sees that as a compliment. - He says you can't be a successful wrestler with no acting skills. - His most painful injury was when he lost part of his ear in Germany. - He says most of his injuries suffered in the WWF happened in the Hell in a Cell match. - He says he has had about 325 stitches in his life (approx. 21 per year as a wrestler) - He says someone's got to teach Lennox Lewis how to trash talk. - The only time he's ever dealt with politicians made him sick to his stomach, so he doubts he'd enjoy a job in politics. - The stupidest wrestling name is Ice Dagger (Steve Austin's proposed gimmick before "Stone Cold") - On his tombstone he would like "Mick Foley- 2 times New York Times bestselling author, 3 time WWF World heavyweight champion, and not a bad dancer for a big man." Foley comes across a funny man and I'd say as FHM has a very high readership with males age 15-35 that's great publicity for the WWF and shows that wrestlers are quite normal. Rebellion is not mentioned once in the whole interview though. Source// ===================================================================== News from the WWF//================================================== -The following news/rumors are derived from Blackjack Brown's latest column for The Chicago Sun Times: *Rumor is that the WWF would emerge victorious at the Survivor Series PPV in November. As a result, the Alliance would lose its TV space on the federation, eventually finding a new TV network for itself. This actually has been rumored to happen during the next year, but the WWF could be thinking about doing it, given the recent disappointing ratings. *In another note regarding Survivor Series, the original plans were to have a double main event involving Steve Austin vs. Rob Van Dam for the WWF championship, and a rematch of The Rock vs. Chris Jericho for the WCW championship. Triple H was also planned to be a major part of this, costing Austin the WWF championship. However, this planned was scrapped. *Steve Blackman has fully recovered from his injuries. He will be returning to TV soon, once the storywriters find an appropriate role for him. *Scott Steiner is considering a lawsuit against AOL Time Warner for what is being called a career-ending injury. If successful, Steiner would be prohibited from joining the WWF. *Earl Hebner was kept off the WWF Smackdown taping in Montreal last week because the WWF were concerned over a possibility of "You screwed Bret" chants referring to Bret Hart. -The WWF announced these four-matches as the headline bouts for the Rebellion PPV on 11/3 in Manchester, England: *Steve Austin vs. Rock for WWF title *Chris Jericho vs Rhyno for WCW title (we'll try and get an update as to the status of this match because it's got to be considered doubtful at this point) *Edge vs. Christian in IC title in cage match *Torrie Wilson & Lita vs. Mighty Molly & Stacy Keibler -Neilsen's reports that SmackDown!'s final rating was a solid 4.0. After the past couple weeks of poor ratings, the WWF can only look upon that as a success considering the competition they've seen. It could also be bad, booking wise as the McMahon family was all over that show. Gerin will be seeing Dr. Lloyd Youngblood in San Antonio early next week for evaluation. If Youngblood feels that Gerin needs surgury, then he could be out for 6 - 8 months. This injury is not unlike Chris Benoit's which has kept him out for going on 4 months now and what kept Steve Austin out for almost a year. Why would a fan lose interest in wrestling right now? We have the world series going on, WCW, ECW, WWF all on one show and facing off against each other. Isn't this supposedly what we've been waiting for? Shouldn't this be every wrestling fan's dream? Well, it is, that's not the problem, the handling of all this is. It doesn't feel like there are separate federations, it feels like the same old WWF just with a bigger roster. A lot of the WCW guys are jokes. Booker T and DDP are the biggest names they picked up with the company and their stance within the company isn't that great. I thought Lance Storm and Mike Awesome would be pushed right away as two of WCW's top guys, but aparently not. The only Alliance members who pose a threat to the WWF are Steve Austin and RVD. I thought with the addition of ECW to this angle, we would see Tazz, Raven and Justin Credible get pushed more, but we didn't get that. In fact, Rhyno's push has softened a bit if anything. When I saw the Rock/Jericho vs Dudleys main event on RAW, I didn't care for it. It's redundant, as far as I'm concerned, these are all WWF guys. I would be far more interested in seeing a true clash of federations for a main event. If Lance Storm, Mike Awesome, Hugh Morrus, Booker, DDP, Chavo were used correctly, we could have a heaping amount of possibilities for a main event. Or if they pushed Tazz, Raven, Justin Credible, Rhyno we could have seen a Raven/Kurt Angle main event, which would have been more interesting if done properly. I think it's time we saw some of the lower card guys from both the Alliance and WWF get pushed. It would be great if Al Snow would be a prominent player in this feud considering he was featured on WWF television quite a bit when the WWF started beating the WCW in ratings. Same goes for Edge/Christian/Hardys/APA/Hadrcore Holly(when he returns). the WWF has an over abundance of talent, but the same faces are on top as last year. Austin and Kurt Angle for instance headlined last year on RAW. Rock and Jericho are in the same place as well. Hopefully the booking team can figure a way out of this mess and we can enjoy every match on television. Hopefully the people who left can come back to help the ratings.
