The complaints come as a result of not being able to even recieve the broadcast, and a lack of response from the WWF, and the company that carried the broadcast when they inquire about refunds. To add more fuel to the fire it seems some fans are getting refunds while others are just getting discounts on shopzone merchandise. Either way some fans are going as far as arranging boycotts of the WWF. The WWF has not released any official messages relating to the webcast, and more of the story as it develops. Source// website mentioned ===================================================================== RATINGS//============================================================ Raw drew a dismal, but not surprising, 3.9 rating. That is down 0.2 from last week's 4.1 rating, which tied for the lowest of the year up to that point. The 3.9 rating is the lowest rating for Raw in its regular timeslot since early 1998 (when Raw was going head-to-head with Nitro). Raw last drew below a 4.0 on Sept. 9, 1999 when it was delayed until late night for U.S. Open Tennis coverage on USA. The show began with a 3.5 in the first half hour, then improved to a 3.8 in the second half hour, averaging a 3.6 for the first hour. The second hour began with a 4.2 first half hour rating, then stayed at 4.2 the second half hour, and peaked at a 4.3 overrun rating, barely higher than the average of the previous hour. The low rating is not a surprise given the competition, especially for New York viewers, due to the American League Championship game on Fox and the Monday Night Football game, both involving New York teams, but coming a day after a PPV it should have helped at least stabilize last week's rating. Excess also sank to a record low 0.5 rating on Saturday. Source// PWTorch ===================================================================== News from the WWF//================================================== -Dave meltzer reports that Raw had to be heavily re-writen because the show was based wholly on The McMahon's and Steve Austin. Since Steve Austin was away getting staples in his head and recovering, the show had to be changed. That's why there was an inordinary amount of wrestling on the show. -There's a "Raw notes" article up at the WWF website where there's features on Bradshaw, Trish Stratus and John Coachman. Smackdown! brought in a 3.6 finishing in the 91st position out of 136 shows. Strangely, Smackdown! shared this position with WB's Dawson's Creek a show Smackdown! has always throttled in the ratings before. As far as the UPN situation goes, Smackdown! narrowly beat out Buffy The Vampire Slayer again which scored a 3.5. Enterprise was still the dominant show on that network with a 5.2 and coming in at 69th. The Number One show overall was ER with a 17.6. The rating is the percentage of America's estimated 105.5 million TV homes. Each ratings point represents 1,055,000 households. -Dave Meltzer is reporting that Hayabusa was seriously injured in a PPV match at Korakuen Hall against Mammoth Sasaki. Apparently he was attempting a moonsault when his foot slipped and he landed directly on his head. He is currently in the hospital and was reporting no feeling sensations. -Word has it the Buff Bagwell is penning a book about his life. Watch out Pulitzer! -For those that care, Ron and Don Harris will be a part of Jummi Hart's new start-up promotion where they're taping a pilot for a new Wrestling TV show in Orlando later next month. -Wrestling PPV events accounted for 63% of PPV revenue for the 3rd quarter, but experienced a drop of 16% compared to the same quarter last year. The drop is due to the absence of ECW and WCW PPV events this year. Overall PPV revenue was up 18% for the 3rd quarter based on a summary released by Showtime Event Television. THOMAS UMSTEAD - Multichannel News DirecTV Inc.'s one-month truce with World Wrestling Federation Entertainment Inc. ended Tuesday when the grappling promoter announced that it would no longer offer its pay-per-view programming to the direct-broadcast satellite service. Citing an inability to reach a new contract deal, WWFE said it will prohibit DirecTV from exhibiting future PPV events, beginning with No Mercy on Oct. 21. DirecTV represents about 15 percent of WWFE's PPV-event revenue. While neither side would reveal specifics, sources said the dispute revolves around a disagreement over license-fee splits. On top of its 50-percent split, sources said DirecTV wants to receive an additional 7 percent to 10 percent "middleman" fee from WWFE — similar to what cable PPV provider In Demand LLC gets — for distributing the company's popular live professional-wrestling and other related WWFE events. Last month, WWFE threatened to pull its Sept. 23 Unforgiven card from DirecTV over the same issue, but the two sides reached an 11th- hour deal for the event. Calling WWFE's decision "irrational," DirecTV senior vice president of programming acquisitions Michael Thornton said the sports- entertainment company turned down a recent proposal that would have provided it with a revenue split that was "more favorable" than what it gets from the cable industry. But WWFE president and chief operating officer Stuart Snyder called DirecTV's proposal "worse" than the distributor's previous deal. "We reached a philosophical difference concerning the [revenue] split and, therefore, could not come to an agreement," Snyder said. The dispute gives cable a major competitive advantage over its biggest PPV rival. But WWFE has no plans to encourage operators to aggressively market that edge over DirecTV. He added the company would look at other distribution opportunities, including the Internet and movie theaters, to bring its PPV shows to the widest audience possible. In Demand senior vice president of programming and development Dan York said only that the network "and its affiliates continue to enjoy a productive and good relationship with the WWF and look forward to making its events available to all consumers." To make up for the revenue loss from WWFE events, Thornton said DirecTV will place a greater emphasis on selling its PPV movies and out-of-market sports packages. "It's easier for us to make up the revenue, given our breadth of PPV programming, than it will be for the WWF," Thornton said. ===================================================================== Remember...========================================================== -Remember that if you've missed any TV Shows, PPV's or more?
