Kallen states that while the WWF has a "restrictive contract," she would like to have The Rock as an announcer or a spectator for PRIDE as a way to help cross the company over into the American market. Accompanying the interview is a photo of Kallen and The Rock from a recent "The Mummy Returns" event. Kallen says she went to the event specifically to meet Rocky and invite him to participate in some fashion for PRIDE. Even if the WWF would allow this, logistically there is no way The Rock could attend as the WWF has a PPV in the UK the same date. Kallen also discusses professional wrestlers as potential competitors in the interview, saying those who are in between contracts right now could be approached to fight in PRIDE. Several New Japan performers have fought in PRIDE in the past. Kallen's comments come at the same time as heavy rumors within the MMA world that former WCW star Bill Goldberg has been heavily training and losing weight in order to eventually compete in Mixed Martial Arts. If Goldberg could get around or out of his AOL/Time- Warner contract, he would perfectly fit the bill of what Kallen is looking for in a crossover superstar for PRIDE's American invasion. Don Frye, who shares the same agent as Goldberg recently stated in an interview on MMA site Sherdog.com that Goldberg had gotten himself down to 260 lbs but refused to confirm he was training for MMA. To read it, click http://www.canoe.ca/SlamWrestlingJackyl/home.html Source// SLAM! ===================================================================== Article//============================================================ Whipwreck goes out a winner former ECW Triple Crown champion Mikey Whipwreck pinned long-time rival Little Guido Maritato to win his retirement match at a USA Pro Wrestling event in Deer Park, Long Island, New York. Whipwreck scored the final pinfall of his career following a top rope Whippersnapper through a table. After the match, which saw lots of foreign objects provided by the fans including a pie and a rubber chicken, Whipwreck and Maritato embraced and the entire locker room entered the ring as the building chanted Mikey's name and "Thank You." The locker room put Mikey on their shoulders as the fans chanted "Please don't go." The entire locker room then kneeled in the ring so the fans could see Whipwreck as he made a brief speech. Whipwreck first thanked the fans saying that without them, it would not be possible for any of the wrestlers in the business to perform. He asked that everyone continue to support the local independents in New York, mentioning USA Pro Wrestling and Impact Championship Wrestling. In his final match, Whipwreck made his way to the ring to a "mixed" version of the various entrance themes that he used through the years. When he returned to the locker room, Whipwreck discovered that former partner and current WWF star Yoshihiro Tajiri had sent a bouquet of flowers, wishing him well in his future plans. On the card, Tajiri called Mikey his "Greatest tag team partner." Source// Mike Johnson ===================================================================== Comment//============================================================ Vile Thoughts - by The Vile As I write this, I have just ended another long day at work, and thank God that Sunday is an off day. And being as such, I will be able to sit back and enjoy(?) No Mercy. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like this PPV has had very little fanfare, and people just aren't hyped for it. If the WWF does it right, it can be a darn solid show. Two matches that I think will have little care factor are Test/Kane and Booker/Taker. While the four guys are decent enough in the ring (If they want to be), these two matches have the potential to be solid candidates for WWF Metal or Jakked. The Hardys vs. Storm and Helms could be a good match if they let Helms wrestle, and not worry about being a misfit hero. Look for a high flying match to be won by the Hardys. Deciding factor-If I need a female second, Lita crushes "Mighty Molly." The Dudleys vs Big Show and Tajiri: Why? Although the Big Show is showing sparks of better than mediocre performance, his tag team partners keep falling off of the face of planet. First Billy Gunn, then Spike. Will Tajiri make it the hat trick? I say a resounding "YES!!!" Dudleys to win, and win big. Let me state for the record that I am about as mad as you can get at anyone, and this message is directed at the "braintrust" of the WWF. I have been waiting patiently for my invitation to be the special guest ref for the lingerie match, and I still haven't received it. I would be a great ref, because I would give the fans what they want: A draw. Edge and Christian face off in I guess what you call a war to settle the score. While the story has been mildly interesting, they need to put together one major slobberknocker. Christian has been amazingly average as IC Champ, and Edge, while playing the role of vengeful brother well, doesn't seem to be going anywhere. I think Edge gets the title back in this one, although I think admitting they made a mistake, and putting them back together is a better move. Just my opinion though. I can't believe Rock vs. Y2J was so low in the poll of matches people wanted to see. It has to be attributed to one of two things: (1) The fans that responded are major marks for faces. (2) They know what's gonna happen, and have no desire to see it. I think they should have Steph help Y2J if they're gonna make him a heel. What better way to get him over. Everyone hates the princess, and that would assure hatred for Y2J. The only thing that disappoints me, once again, is the death of one of the greatest feuds of all time: Steph vs. Jericho. And in the main event, Parnoia 3:16 takes on the milkman and the master of the stiff shots. We know Angle's hurting, so his chances of winning are slightly better than Osama's. While RVD would make a fine champion, he's not quite ready. Especially if the rumors are true, and he's on the bad side of Baldy 3:16 and the Biker-Taker. RVD has got to learn to tone it down. If you get a reputation of being too stiff, you're gonna get screwed at some point. The Ultimate Warrior and Bill Goldberg were classic stiff shooters. Viscera almost got himself run out of the business in 1995 when he was dropping wrestlers faster than the Road Runner eats bird seed. Look for the Cue-ballish Alliance leader to retain his belt, either by hook or by crook. And maybe, just maybe, RVD goes face. If not on Sunday, quite possibly on Raw the following night.
