However, they say that once you think about it, if each PPV grossed $2 million dollars, that would be $100,000 in contention for the WWF. Let's say that the WWF and DTV come to a deal for next month's Survivor Series. If the WWF would have gotten a cut of a million dollars from DTV had the show aired this weekend, they will need to do 10 more shows just like it over the coming months just to make up from they lost this weekend. Source// website mentioned ===================================================================== News from the WWF//================================================== -Dave Meltzer reports that Smackdown scored a final rating of 3.6, which is down from last week. Last month's average rating was 3.7. -Trish Stratus has won "2001 Babe of the year" contest over Lita. Trish scored 55%, which Lita scored 45%. Trish will now be awarded with her very own WWFE produced official website. -WWF is doing a streaming video webcast of No Mercy for $14.95. They only have capacity for 3,000 viewers. -Spike Dudley will be hosting No Mercy from WWF New York. -Here's an interesting poll result for you. The question: "Which match at No Mercy are you most looking forward to?" Booker/Taker leads by 33% of almost 400,000 votes. The IC Ladder Match is second with 18% and the main event is 13%. Jericho/Rock is last with 10% of the vote. -Here's the WWF's schedule for this upcoming weekend. However, as always, there are rumors. Here's what I've heard from listening to The Law who feature Dave Meltzer on a regualr basis: *The most probable scenario for the main event of the PPV this weekend is that all signs point to RVD being officially booted from The Alliance this Sunday and joining the WWF side. The WWF can't deny his popularity and having him apart of the heel faction doesn't help. He'll most likely be doing the job to Austin as a result of Alliance interference and the customary downed referee which has become the norm. As a result of his "firing", McMahon will add him to the WWF side to "fight the good fight" so to speak. RVD and McMahon against Austin & the Alliance would be the hot angle coming out of the PPV and lead into the Survivor Series PPV where the thought is that the main event will be a traditional Survivor Series match between the two factions. Unfortunately, this puts Kurt Angle's status up in the air. He was to have a program with William Regal but he recently suffered a torn bicep muscle and is approximately a month away from the ring. There are rumors however that Angle will be paired with DDP coming out of the PPV. *The secnd biggest matchup pits Jericho vs. The Rock. Meltzer reported that as of a week ago, Jericho was rumored to strip Rock of the WCW Title [i]with[/i] the help of Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley. Nothing has appeared to change there. If his report is accurate, that would suggest that the WWF would be making Jericho a top heel in the company. The WWF needs a boost, and a brand new heel could only help to spice things up and revive sagging ratings. *Rock turning heel this weekend would be suicide as he's the only bonifide babyface the company has right now. Hart, who will be appearing as "commissioner", missed the first show in Perth because of his mother's serious illness. "The sights and smells of Ground Zero will forever be embedded in my mind. TV ratings, PPV buys, house show attendance, and creative critiques certainly do not seem as important after Sunday's visit to the Big Apple. *William Regal suffered a partially torn right biceps that will sideline him for a few weeks while he undergoes physical therapy. Surgery has not been recommended at this time for the southpaw. *Taka Michinoku has a dislocated his shoulder again and it will require surgery. Details are being arranged to have Dr. James Andrews repair Taka's shoulder in Birmingham, Ala. *Rikishi will report to Heartland Wrestling Association (HWA) in Cincinnati or Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) in Louisville, Ky., soon, and hopes to be ready to go by November's Survivor Series. *Shawn Stasiak's injured groin seems to have healed and he is available to return to the ring. *Scotty 2 Hotty is working through neck pain. The situation will soon be more thoroughly addressed. *Jerry Lynn is scheduled to be released from doctor's care near the end of December. *Russ McCullough, a former University of Missouri footballer, has done an excellent job of helping us promote our live event Saturday at 5 p.m. in Columbia, Mo. *The NBC taping of "The Weakest Link" will be next week in L.A. Should be excellent exposure for eight of our superstars. *Kurt Angle, Ivory and Bradshaw will take part in a Smackdown Your Vote! rally on Oct. 29 at the Belknap campus of the University of Louisville in Kentucky. *Stacy Keibler guested on the Howard Stern radio show this morning. Nice promotion for Sunday's No Mercy. *Only 1,000 tickets or so are available for Sunday's event in St. Louis. The Savvis Center there is a beautiful facility where the crowd is usually very responsive. I hope I haven't jinxed us by saying this. *Congrats to Terri Runnels, who is getting married Nov. 3. *Lots of hard work trying to get our developmental men and women to slow down and tell better in-ring stories. Flying moves that do not fit the psychology of the match are wasted motion. I like the aerial stuff when it makes sense. Too many talents think they have to "get their stuff in" for a contest to be compelling. Not true if it's not a vital part of a bigger story being told by all the participants. V-P of talent relations and how they go about recruiting new talent, JR talked about scouting and visiting a lot of amateur wrestlers, the NFL and said that he signed (a nameless) former XFL talent. Says they look at a lot of tapes of Indy wrestlers. Said sometimes that NCAA coaches may give them a call and recommend a wrestler that they have. *He also discussed the developmental territories. *Chuck asked if the additions of WCW and ECW talent changed his job, making it more or less hard. JR said that it's harder but just as far as the personal issues some of the guys may have like needing time off, tax problems, and marriage problems. But over all they are lucky to a roster that loves to perform. *They discussed the Ross Report and how there are always filled with a lot of injuries. JR says that they do a bizarre form of performance art where they injure they bodies every day, year round. *Pat asked if and how things have changed since the death of Owen Hart. JR answered that now they are not doing the lowering from the rafters stunt anymore, and that the stunt was done dozens of times, but now if some one isn't comfortable with doing something, they don't have to do it. . JR says that they do enough over the top things that the fans probably don't miss the stunts like that anyways. He doesn't think that they lost any "sizzle" for not doing the stunts. *Chuck and JR discussed last year's Orange Bowl, and the Oklahoma Sooners. Last year the OU Sooners won the Orange Bowl on JR's birthday. He says that it's a sign that they Sooners are on they way to the Rose Bowl this year and it's being played on his birthday again. *Plugged the BBQ sauce again, and says that making the stuff in his kitchen was hard, but now that they are in mass production it's a whole different ball game. He says it's a pain in the ass. The sauce will be in stores next year. *They jokingly talk about Stacy Keibler, and JR says that he thinks that Stacy is stalking him. They discuss her legs. . *He says that his daughter Amanda is a student at Tulsa University (TU) and that she works at the S & J Oyster Bar, and feels bad that she has to work tonight and can't have dinner with the old man, so he asks listeners to go the S & J Oyster Bar and leave something in Amanda's tip jar. -JIM ROSS ON KTUL Channel 8 out of Tulsa, Oklahoma Troy Littledeer of StillwelSports.com reporting. J.R. discussed a lot of things and here's a highlight: *Mr. Ross talked about being from Adair county in Northeastern Oklahoma (That's where I'm from!), and attending Northeastern State University, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. *The Sooner fan that JR is (And who isn't?), discussed having the OU fight song played for him around the world. He particularly remembers hearing the boos as the song begins to play while the WWF was in Austin. Good one JR! *J.R. talked about the WWF's visit to ground zero, the command center, and to the morgue at New York. Said he will never forget the odor. He said that number of Superstars and the McMahon family visited the sites. JR mentions that the most moving thing he'll never forget is seeing a number of surviving fire department members who had not visited the site yet, arriving as they were leaving. Talked about how wrestling is all over the top, entertainment and lot of sizzle, and that that was a sobering moment. *When asked how he got his start in the business and how he became known as the best announcer in there is, JR talked about working with Leroy McGuirk, who was blind. Says it made him work harder. JR talked about being influenced by radio. *He says that he will be at the Tulsa Convention Center Saturday for the ticket sales from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. *Someone off camera asked about Triple H, and JR says he will be back in December. *Congratulated host Frank Mitchell for the birth of his new "young 'un. . ." Frank mentioned that maybe one day the baby would be a wrestler, and JR jokes that maybe he could recruit him. *Jim Ross was also on "6 in the Morning with Rick Wells and Leanne Taylor" on KOTV Channel 6 also out of Tulsa. Rick Wells is a fan of wrestling and does a bit about wrestling every morning. And I am a fan of Rick Wells, he always seems to try get people aware of wrestling. JR seemed a lot more comfortable with Rick Wells that the other guy over at KTUL Channel 8. -Here are some points for the KOTV Channel 6 morning show: *They discussed JR's career, and a little bit of the XFL. JR says he thought that they broke a tradition that many weren't ready to have broken yet. *Talked about the recent shows in Montreal. JR talks candidly about how people in Connecticut say that JR talks funny. JR says that "people in Montreal, now they talk funny. . ." But he was only joking, and put over the Canadian fans. *Discussed Jericho and the Rock, while they showed footage of them on Smackdown. JR say that the Rock is "transcending what they [The WWF] do. . ." *JR talked about his cookbook, and mentioned that he would be writing another one next year based on his momma's cooking. *Talk about his big movie debut in "Man on the moon". Calling working with director Milos Foreman an experience. It was at this point that Rick asked about Jerry Lawler, but JR kind of turned the conversation into the a discussion over "Man on the Moon." *They discussed the recent WWF visit to ground zero. JR says that he is proud of his Oklahoman and American heritage, and was made aware of that after he and the other WWF Superstars visited the site. He called it "the most moving day in his life." *Talked about his daughters and where they all live in Oklahoma. *He said that it was a very close call, because his wife was in the area the day and night before for a Michael Jackson concert (He adds: "Put Joke Here"), and left the city the night before the tragedies. *JR also mention that the card for the Tulsa Convention Center would be a really big one, and that they are working on making it one of the best (I can't wait). *Closed the segment by hyping that he and Stacy Keibler would be at the on-sale tomorrow at the Tulsa Convention Center box office from 9:30-11:30.
