The company felt that, in the wake of the events of Sept. 11, "Armageddon" was inappropriate. The PPV will be Dec. 9 at the San Diego Sports Arena in San Diego, California. -Dave Scherer is reporting that in addition to the talks given to the developmental talent in OVM and HWA yesterday that the wrestlers were also given drug tests. There is no word on whether this will become normal procedure or not. Apparently none of the talent had problems with taking the tests as they see it as part of the business. -Overseas the WWF is running a promotion with Burger King. Apprently in a Kids Club Meal yoou get a bag of WWFE merchandise. The promotion is lasting until October 26th with the hopes of adding to the buy rate of the UK Rebellion PPV event taking place on November 3rd. -WWF Excess is now going to be taped on Saturday afternoons instead of live starting tonight on TNN at 10PM Eastern to Midnight. With that, the show will no longer take in studio phone calls. However, they'll still be taking E-mails. As an aside, the APA will be guests on the show tonight. -Don't know if you care or not, but there's new photos of the billion dollar princess with her billion dollar...well, you know. That's a solid advance on just about any scale, but if MSG doesn't sell out for Austin vs. Rock, it will be a sign of the times. -Bradshaw was at Ground Zero yesterday, the site of the former WTC towers. The NYPD commissioner accompanied him. Several other wrestlers too are expected to pay a visit to the site during the course of next 2 days. -Staying with Bradshaw, he was voted the 2nd most intelligent wrestler in a recent poll conducted by the WWF. Without any surprise, Triple H was voted the 1st. Source// ===================================================================== News from the rest of pro-wrestling//================================ -The company that owns WOW magazine put it up for auction today in bankruptcy court. Dave Scherer reports that today in that Chicago bankruptcy court WOW magazine was bought. The company Kappa Publishing bought WOW for an unspecified amount. What makes the deal interesting is that Kappa Publishing is the parent company of Professional Wrestling Illustrated (PWI), who was WOW magazine's main cometition. The deal will be completed when the Judge grants approval, but in the meantime, It is strangely similar to the deal in which the WWF bought WCW. Bill Apter, the editor of WOW was a former employee of Kappa and worked for PWI before leaving to start WOW magazine. Scherer is also reporting that the companies offices are currently "not commenting" on the recent developments. -Former professional wrestler and current Governor of Minnesota, Jesse Ventura, is currently keeping all of his planned public appearances a secret, stating that there are concerns that he could be a target of terrorism. Stasiak also had his knee drained last week. *Chris Jericho (Chris Irvine) received five stitches for a cut above his right eye on Smackdown. *Rikishi (Solofa Fatu) is expected to return in a month after shoulder surgery. In the meantime, he is focusing on his "conditioning." *Trish Stratus (Patricia Stratigias) is expected to receive clearance in the next week. Stratus is currently recovering from an ankle injury. *D-Von Dudley (Devon Hughes) is currently suffering from a pinched nerve in his neck. He too will work through the injury. *Jerry Lynn continues therapy for his patella injury and is on schedule to return in late December. *Chris Benoit is currently schedule to return in early 2002 following neck surgery. *Hardcore Holly (Robert Howard) is expected to return in five months after having the screws and plate removed from his arm. Ross stated that there's a good chance that he'll be a part of Tough Enough 2. *Kwee Wee (Alan Funk) is once again active in the Heartland Wrestling Association in Cincinnati after suffering from a concussion. *This Sunday, twenty of the WWF stars will be making appearances around the New York area as a result of the September 11th events. *NBC's "The Weakest Link" will be taped on October 24th in Los Angeles featuring Triple H, Stephanie McMahon, Trish Stratus, William Regal, Kurt Angle, Big Show, Lita, and Booker T. The show will air on Monday, November 12th at 8:00pm ET. *Mick Foley will tape ABC's "Celebrity Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" next Thursday in New York City. *OVW's Randy Orton will work a match on the October 20th WWF show from Columbia, Mo. and will wrestle dark matches on October 22nd and 23rd. *The Tough Enough 2 casting week will be held in Las Vegas in early November. The company has received more than 4,000 tapes so far. ===================================================================== Comment//============================================================ Linda's Thoughts After watching Smackdown last night, I'm counting the days until No Mercy. No not because of the main event that was made. Which is Austin vs. Angle vs. Rob Van Dam. And it's not because Rock will be going against Chris Jericho. No it's the match between Test and Kane that I can't wait for. Ok I hope you know I'm not serious about that match. Anyway now let me say Smackdown was good but I liked Raw better. I think Raw had a little more energy than Smackdown, but I still liked what I saw last night. Since I read the spoilers I expected the McMahon children to do their thing and open the show. I wouldn't say it was a bad opening, no I would call it a mediocre one. Not bad, not good. Anyway Shane and Steph gloated about Austin's win over Angle on Raw. Then introduced the newest Alliance member, William Regal. His reasoning for turning on WWF was that there was no one in that organization worthy of the belt like Steve Austin. Kind of a lame excuse, but really Regal's turn was uneventful. As the opening continued Austin started talking about his victory and kept saying "it's over, it's over" about Kurt Angle getting a rematch. That brought out Linda McMahon. Wow the fans were glad to see her. She immediately fired Regal from his WWF Commissioner job, and mentioned a new Commissioner would have some other announcements to be made. She let Austin know it wasn't over, and said it's true. That's when Kurt Angle made a surprise run in and took out Regal, Austin and Shane. After the break Regal is just fuming about Linda firing him and complains to Shane and Stephanie. Stephanie comes back with you can choose your friends, but not your parents. Then the three wonder who the new Commissioner will be. I wonder if the name Mick Foley rings a bell? It hit me immediately. Spoilers or no spoilers wouldn't he just be the logical choice? As the three work on whom the new Commish is, we now get the first match of the night. Buh Buh Ray and D-Von accompanied by Stacy Keibler take on Big Show and Spike Dudley. Let me say right off, thank you Spike for covering those very pale and thin legs. I know can focus more on your work. And I liked this match, the four put on a good one on Raw and I think topped it last night. The match was longer and even with Show in it was a fast paced match. Spike and Big Show seem to be working together very well, the size difference is unbelievable. Show could put Spike in his pocket and take him where ever he goes. Seriously it was a good match, and the end with Spike being thrown over the ropes through a table was unbelievable. He looked like a rag doll, just totally lifeless and limp. Spike without Molly seems to be putting himself out there a lot more, and I'm liking what I'm seeing. DDP did a motivation speech directed at Kurt Angle for his loss on Raw. After Monday's little vignette with Jennifer, this segment was flat. We also see Rock and Jericho talking and getting along. This is supposed to be from earlier in the day. But they now seem to have made up. Very touching isn't it? Stephanie and Shane with Austin and Debra are in the locker room. The McMahon kids are telling Austin that since he has the WWF title RVD should go for the WCW title against the Rock. Austin says RVD should earn his chance to go against Rock. So Shane makes it RVD vs. Y2J. The winner gets Rock at No Mercy. When Stephanie hears this she's not pleased, but her brother explains to her how Van Dam is always taking care of Jericho and Steph gets a big smile on her face. And then we go right to Edge asking Jericho if he and Rock are cool. Jericho says yes and he's going to beat RVD to meet Rock at No Mercy. He's all psyched up about it. Then Jericho tells Edge he needs to get the IC title back from Christian, and of course Edge agrees. He leaves and Mrs. Helmsley comes in. She starts with Jericho saying she hears he can't win the big ones. Y2J comes back with if anyone knows about big ones it's Steph. And now finally another match. And I'm happy to say that X-Pac no longer has two titles. The Cruiserweight Title now belongs to Billy Kidman. Kidman reappeared after being out for a couple of months with a knee injury. I thought he looked good in the ring, and both guys put on a good match. Not only did Kidman win, but also the fans were behind him 100%. So I think it's only a matter of time before Kidman comes over to WWF and X-Pac joins the Alliance. Guess whose on again? That's right Shane. This time he's trying to pump up RVD about this big match against Jericho. The best part was when RVD doesn't seem to be listening, so Shane asks him what he thinks about the match. Van Dam gives one word COOL. I loved it, cool and he leaves. Of course his match with Jericho was a good one and probably the best match of the night. Jericho was bleeding over the eye right at the beginning of the match. The two work so well together, and I thought it was something that RVD chants were so very loud. I'm not saying Y2J chants weren't out there, but they were drowned out by Van Dam chants without a doubt. As I said a very good match, with Austin coming out and interfering I guess in Van Dam's behalf. I say that because, Austin had a chair and used it on Van Dam. Of course it was supposed to be Jericho that Austin wanted. Or was it? That chairshot to Van Dam help give Jericho the win and the No Mercy match against the Rock. RVD was so angry that he and Austin had a stare down for a while. Then Austin called out the rest of the Alliance and said they need to be out there to see what Austin was going to do. They come out and Austin starts talking and says he has one person to thank for the WWF title, and that would be Shane. He hugs Shane and tells him he loves him. He mentioned RVD trying to be a leader while Austin was gone, but now Austin is back. He told Van Dam that in 2, 3, 4 or 5 years from now RVD could be a star. He offered to shake Van Dam's hand and that's when the new Commissioner comes out. Yes it's Mick Foley. Surprise! Foley got things going by making the main event for Smackdown Kurt Angle vs. William Regal. He said since Regal was with the Alliance he couldn't make him fight Angle, but he wondered if Regal had the testicular fortitude. That angered Regal, who then agreed to the match. Foley also set up the No Mercy main event. Making it Austin vs. Angle and giving RVD a chance to be part of it. Of course RVD took it and now it's a Triple Threat Match. Austin was pissed. After the break Austin was complaining to Shane about Foley, and Shane said this would work out fine. If Austin lost the belt then RVD and as Shane was going to continue Austin walked out. The next match was Kane vs. Hurricane Helms for the European Title. Helms told Kane that he had a cool costume and mask. He should join the Hurricane and Mighty Molly. But Kane had other thoughts, and the match was more humor than anything else. But it was fun to watch, until Test came in and then Booker to take out Kane. Test beat on Kane and Undertaker came in to save the day. After the match, Test was backstage with Booker telling him that he would take Kane on at No Mercy. Now isn't that something to look forward too? Maven made another appearance against Tazz. I didn't think this was that good. Maybe because we saw it last week. It was extremely short, and Tazz again took care of Maven. This time Al Snow was there, but he wasn't there to interfere. He took Tazz's place at the announce table. I now wonder if this is the last time we see Maven for awhile? Or if there is one more match with him and Tazz. Coach interviewed Rock. He said everything was cool with him and Jericho. Rock then talked about their match at No Mercy. Y2J interrupted and said he didn't realize Rock was doing an interview. Jericho said he couldn't wait and the match was going to be huge. Then Jericho left and bumped Rock, and made a comment like they're going to be talking about this one. Rock after being bumped said, " you have no idea, no idea." That made me wonder if Rock would be the one to turn instead of Jericho. That's something I would love to see. Now the main event. Regal vs. Kurt Angle. Of course Kurt was the whole match. I didn't expect much from it. As I have said so many times before Regal is a great heel and does terrific mic work, but in the ring there's just no interest to watch him. As the match went on and got near the end out of the blue Raven, Awesome, Kanyon and Tommy Dreamer all run out to help Regal. Regal leaves, and Angle suplexes all of them and hits Dreamer with a chair. The end. Not much of a main event, but the Rock/Jericho feud and Austin and RVD getting into each others faces was something to see. I think this week both shows did deliver, and I have to say I'm looking forward to No Mercy, and no not because of Test taking on Kane. I also look forward to Raw and watching Jericho and Rock continue this little game.
