According to the Torch, Jim Ross had an hour-long conversation with Scott Hall on Thursday and was pleased to hear how Hall has been handling the issues in his personal life which were once affecting his wrestling career. WWF management also held unofficial talks with Kevin Nash this past week. Overall the talks were said to have been positive as they said they were looking forward to getting back into wrestling and having fun again, and that they would be prepared to work a full schedule. Both wrestlers AOL-Time Wanrer contracts end at the beginning of next year. However, when serious negotiations are entered with the WWF, there is no certainty that the parties will be able to come to a mutual agreement contractually. Source// SLAM!, Ultimo ====================================================================== Article//============================================================= WWF Makes Love Not "War" The World Wrestling Federation is toning down the testosterone. In yet another nod to increased national sensitivities in the wake of the September 11 tragedies, the WWF has announced it's dropping words like "war" and "armageddon" from the names of its shows. From now on, the pro-wrestling empire's top-rated TV show Raw Is War, which airs Mondays at 9 p.m. on TNN, will now simply be known as Raw. The company also changed the name of its The War Zone to The Raw Zone. According to the WWF's chief spokesman Gary Davis, the move was a no- brainer, even for an entertainment known for its pumped-up rhetoric. "We've modified the name of our show to Raw," Davis says from the WWF corporate offices. "We did it for two reasons. With everything that's happened in the wake of the September 11 terrorist attacks we wanted to be sensitive to the situation and respectful to the victims and their families. And also, our fans called the show Raw and we felt it would make recognition easier." In addition to changing the names of its regular progamming, the WWF plans to ditch the apocalyptic title Armageddon for an upcoming pay- per-view special. No word yet on what the special will be called, but the new titles took effect earlier this week (even though the changes weren't immediately reflected across the WWF universe, including its Websites). But don't expect the grapplers to turn into a bunch of sissies. Fans looking for a place to rock and rumble will be happy to learn that the aggressive, trash-talking style which has become a staple of the WWF will not be toned down despite the name change. "I'm not aware of any criticism in terms of the content of the shows [since the attacks]," says another WWF rep, Judd Everhart. "We think that our fans understand what goes on in the ring...and that it's scripted and choreographed." In the meantime, as the WWF gets diplomatic with its fans, the wrestling organization is readying for a rematch with longtime foe the World Wildlife Fund. On Monday, Britain's High Court ruled that the WWF can appeal an earlier decision that restricted the wrestling group's use of the contested initials. The panel ruled the WWF may challenge an August decision in favor of the Wildlife Fund--now called the Worldwide Fund for Nature--which said the wrestling federation had illegally breached a 1994 contract with the eco-friendly group by using the WWF initials in marketing and logos. Says Davis: "We believe [the previous ruling was] restraint of trade in our ability to do business in the world. We believe both organizations can coexist peacefully...and we look forward to filing our appeal and come to some sort of amicable resolution." And if that doesn't work, maybe they'll bring in the bodyslammers.
