Corino was saying that he made the decision while he was wrestling in Canada and expressed that he was burnt out. No word as of yet on how this affects the NWA World title. Source// The Law ====================================================================== RATINGS//============================================================= Raw scored a 4.4 cable rating last night according to Nielsen Media Research. The show did hours of 4.4 and 4.4. Excess scored 0.8 cable rating. Heat scored a 1.6 cable rating, with the replay doing 0.6. The season finale of Tough Enough scored a 2.5 cable rating, which is the highest number that the show ever did. ====================================================================== News from the WWF//=================================================== -Raw finished No. 3 and No. 4 in the cable ratings for the week of 9/24 to 9/30. The highest rated show was the NFL game that Sunday which did a 6.9 on ESPN, followed by the pre-game show. -Bill Alfonso was backstage at SmackDown Tuesday night from Mobile. Relax, he was only visiting friends. -Stephanie McMahon did not appear on TV this week due to her taking a vacation. -In his column on WWF.com, Paul Bearer said that it looks like he will be re-upping with the WWF in the talent department when his contract expires on 10/15. Interesting thing is that the 2 wrestlers that are facing each other are members of the same team in the invasion, for now anyway. REMEMBER! card is ALWAYS subject to change. -The WWF are trying to take a new and fresh approach with Sunday Night Heat. Last week, Paul Heyman oversaw the production of the show and you will have noticed that there were more pre-tapes and backstage stuff, rather than more interaction with the guest host, Tommy Dreamer. While in rehab his family is being paid the downside minimum of his contract. -Today is Terri's birthday. Happy B-Day you sexy and boney little thing you! *wink* Source// 1Wrestling, UltimoWrestling, Dave Meltzer ====================================================================== News from WCW-ECW//=================================================== -Dave Scherer speculates that Kevin Nash and Scott Hall have a 50/50 chance of being added to the WWF roster shortly after Nash's AOL/TIme Warner contract expires in February. Rumors have ran for a while that Nash and Vince McMahon have already had a face-to-face meeting and the idea Nash is throwing around is that they can rehash the nWo invasion on WWF TV with He and Hall leading the alliance against the WWF. Scherer says that since Nash is good friends with McMahon and Triple H, it's safe to say that we'll see him added next spring. -Also from Scherer, he says that Scott Stiener's foot injury is still not 100% and is closer to 75% at this time. He says that JR and the WWF want him as soon as he's healthy as he was tops on their "buyout list" when they purchased WCW. However, due to his injury, he hasn't been able to. it really isa blessing in disguise has Steiner can still collect his contracted money until the end of the year and he's back can also repair itself. When he returns, Stiener will be bigger than ever. -The Torch notes that at last night's OVW tapings, Kidman looked to have reaggravated his knee injury after a match with Rob Conway. Ironically enough, it was his first match back since recovering from rehab. Doctors have expressed some concern on her condition due to the fact that they expected Hart to regain consciousness within the past two days; however, nothing has yet happened. More on this as it comes in. -There's an article on Terry Taylor at SLAM! regarding his appearence at 'Micky Whipwreck's Retirement Bash'. Russo has relinquished his power in the WWA (an Australian promotion in the country) to Jeremy Borash. -Keeping with the WWA, Jeff Jarrett is being advertised as appearing on the promotions next show. Source// SLAM!, 1Wrestling, Dave Meltzer, The Law ====================================================================== Article//============================================================= KURT ANGLE ON REGIS AND KELLY Kurt Angle was on "Live With Regis and Kelly" today to promote his new book, "It's True, It's True". Angle came out with the WWF Title and Regis asked him who he beat for it. Angle said he beat Steve Austin. Kelly asked him if he could believe how popular wrestling was and Kurt said that it was enormously popular, going through the roof and "ratings continue to climb". Ouch. Regis then noticed the potato shot that Rob Van Dam nailed Kurt with on his chin and lip at Smackdown on Tuesday. Angle said, "Stone Cold did a number on me". Regis asked Kurt if he got stitches (which you could clearly see he did) and Kurt said he had two in the eye, two in the lip and six under his chin. Regis told his producer that he told him wrestling was for real. Angle said sarcastically, "It's fake". He continued to play to the storyline and blamed Austin for the cuts, not Van Dam. From there, Regis asked Kurt to tell him about his life. Kurt said that he grew up in the 70s and 80s in Pittsburgh when it was "The City of Champions". He said he had four older brothers and an older sister, and they were great athletes. Sports were very important in his house. He said he got pushed into wrestling because his brothers were into it but he said he wasn't very good at it. He didn't like the one-on-one aspect of it and preferred the team aspect of sports. He said he didn't like being out on the mat in wrestling by himself. Kurt then said that he lost his father at 16. His dad was a crane operator and since his dad loved wrestling, so he gave up other sports and dedicated himself to being a great wrestler. He then talked about his storied career in wrestling. Regis asked Kurt who he wrestled in the Olympic match and he said it was a guy from Iran. Kurt then said he was on Regis' show two days after he won and he still remembers "wrestling" Regis on that show. He had a good laugh at Regis' expense, remember how Regis dressed up in a singlet "with his little white legs sticking out". Regis then asked Kurt about joining the WWF. Kurt said that he met with the McMahons shortly after he was on Regis' show the last time. He said that he turned down the McMahons because all through his career, amateur wrestling always took a back seat to pro wrestling and since amateur wrestling got no respect, he turned down the WWF's multi-million dollar offer. Then he said that in late 1998, he turned on Raw is War and loved it. He said that he never watched wrestling before that but was hooked. So he called the McMahons and asked if the offer was still there and they said, "Hell no". He was told he would have to try out and go through the system, sign a smaller deal, work his way up etc. He said he was glad he worked his way up because that is how he did it in amateur wrestling and it made him appreciate his success more. When they came back from break, they showed a little footage of Kurt wrestling RVD. Regis plugged that Kurt would be signing his book at WWF NY from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Kurt then explained how the Ankle Lock worked. He explained to Regis what tapping out meant. He had Regis lay on his stomach and Regis tapped out before Kurt put the move on him. Kurt then did a Sleeper Hold on Regis. Regis told people to not try it at home. Regis then had Kurt do a small package on the show's producer, Gelman. Kurt then let Kelly do the Boston Crab on him and he tapped out. Hey, I would have tapped out to her too. Angle, as usual, came across really well on the show. Source// Dave Scherer and 1Wrestling.com ====================================================================== Comment//============================================================= Linda's Thoughts Smackdown might not have been the best ever, but it was so much better than Raw. The matches were better, and the mic work was cut to a minimum. Again not the show of shows, but for me it was entertaining to watch. I didn't find myself constantly looking at the clock to see when it would end. Of course Shane McMahon had to open the show up. He brought out the Alliance members and stood in the ring talking about Stone Cold Steve Austin having the right to a rematch with Kurt Angle. He went on and on about that. Too bad Stone Cold wasn't there instead, but again a no show. Anyway Shane managed to bring Commish Regal out and basically demand a rematch with Austin and Angle for Monday night. Regal made it a little difficult at first saying that Austin's contract did entitle him to rematches, but since he wasn't with WWF anymore the contract didn't stick. So Regal ripped it up. Then Shane the genius came up with this great idea. Have Angle and any Alliance member in a match on Smackdown. If the Alliance member wins Angle must face Austin at Raw. If Angle wins he and Rock meet for the WCW title at Raw. Regal had to think about it, but Kurt came out, said very few words and gave Shane just what he wanted. It wasn't exactly a blockbuster opening, but I've seen worse. Sorry to say this wasn't the end of Shane for the night, no Shane had more appearances to make. But on to the first match. It's Chrisitian Christian, and The X-Factor vs. Edge and the APA. I liked this match, I thought they all worked very hard. It's just kind of difficult to get excited about watching X-Pac and Albert. But all in all it was a good match. I will definitely give Albert credit for doing a vertical suplex on Bradshaw. He held him up there for quite a while. The move came off really nice. Shane's back and he's with the Alliance. He wants them to vote for the man they want to take on Austin. You see Booker looking very confident thinking he's going to get voted in. In fact he tells Shane he'll take care of everything. Oh is Booker going to be disappointed. We found out why Molly Holly is no longer Spike's chic. Mighty Molly yeah that's what she wants to be called said it's nothing against Spike but their relationship was going nowhere. I have to say that Mighty Molly couldn't be more right. So Molly escorts Hurricane Helms out for his match along with Mike Awesome against Spike and Big Show. I had to laugh because Spike in that horrible outfit looks so pale and sickly. And Paul Heyman just about said the same thing. Anyway this match really got better when Big Show was tagged in. I enjoyed watching it, and finally seeing Spike get a victory. However I do have a question. Wasn't Spike and Show supposed to PARTY last night? Backstage Angle talks to Rock about agreeing to Shane's' stipulations for the match that will take place in a little while. Rock is fine with the thought of Angle and him meeting on Raw Monday night. Rock suggests that both titles WCW and WWF should be on the line. Angle agrees with that and Rock tells Angle to go and win. The votes are in and it's not Booker it's guess who? That's right, it's Rob Van Dam. You know that Booker is not happy, and I'm wondering if he and RVD will feud, or Booker will go out on his own and desert the Alliance. So now it's RVD who needs the win to grant Austin his wish. Rob Van Dam and Kurt Angle put on the match of the night. It was great. I'll tell you Van Dam is brutal and Angle took major hits and bumps. This match could have been on a pay per view and I would have been satisfied. RVD kicked Angle in the mouth and the blood just poured out of Kurt's mouth. Another great match from both guys. Unfortunately Shane had to interfere helping RVD get the win. I knew it was coming, and it's too bad. Why not let these two guys just finish the match on their own? Anyway RVD won, giving Austin a title shot on Monday's Raw. The one match I was looking forward too came off pretty good. That's Maven vs. Tazz. Maven lost, which I expected. But this match showed me something I haven't seen in quite a while. That's Tazz's enthusiasm in the ring. Tazz I thought showed so much of that and really seemed to want to be in the match. He didn't look clumsy, or lifeless as he has been looking for such a long time. And Maven did a nice job. I would imagine he had to be nervous since this was his first television match. But he came off very well, and looked in great shape. I was expecting Al Snow to come in and assist a little, but that didn't happen. It was a short match but one I enjoyed. Booker vs. Kane was ok. Again nothing out of the ordinary, but both guys put on a good match. Test has been with Shane too long and had to do a run in to help his fellow tag team partner win. After Kane was down Test and Booker started beating at Kane and Taker came to Kane's rescue. So you know these four will be meeting at No Mercy. DDP was back. As I said on Tuesday I didn't mind him on Raw, probably because the show started out so bad. But watching him tonight I feel he's being made to look like an idiot. Hey maybe this will all work out fine, but this gimmick isn't something you give to someone like Page. I could see Kanyon doing it, but not DDP. Page just comes off so dopey. And for all you lucky guys out there, there was a Bikini contest with Stacy Keibler vs. Torrie Wilson. All I can say about that is my son and husband really wanted Stacy to win. Ok, now for the main event with Rock, Jericho and Mike Chioda vs. The Dudley's and Nick Patrick was typical, although I thought Jericho really worked his ass off. I didn't see any reason to put the refs in. There were no tables in this one which was ok with me. I don't understand why Angle's match with RVD wasn't the main event match. It was far better than this one. Well we know what the main event will be on Raw, Austin vs. Angle for the WWF title. Sunday I will tell you what I think will happen with this match, plus I have a few things to say about Vince McMahon. I question some of his decisions that have been made lately. Oh I bet you all can't wait for that?
