The 76-year-old wife of wrestling pioneer Stu Hart remains in critical condition after being rushed to Foothills emergency on Friday after she began feeling groggy and experienced trouble speaking. Family fears worsened after she suffered a seizure and momentarily stopped breathing. But daughter Ellie Neidhart reported some good news yesterday, explaining that her feisty mom's condition had improved somewhat and doctors had ruled out a stroke as the source of her troubles. "She's better than she was," Ellie said. "They are going to run some more tests to see what's going on, but I think basically it's diabetes-related and we'll see what happens when we get her blood sugars back up where they should be." The family has been keeping a bedside vigil for Helen since she arrived at hospital. Ellie said the family noticed subtle changes in her mom after she returned home from a visit with her sister in San Francisco on Tuesday. In the morning, Helen's husband, Stu, noticed her condition had worsened, and paramedics were called to the home in southwest Calgary. A spokeswoman for the Calgary Health Region said Helen was listed in critical but stable condition yesterday. She had not yet regained consciousness yesterday morning, but Ellie thought it was due to medication and not a coma. Helen Hart is the much-loved matriarch of the famous wrestling family, which helped build the sport into a multimillion-dollar industry. The Harts created Stampede Wrestling, which proved the launch pad for some of the sport's greatest performers. Two of the family's sons, Bret (The Hitman) Hart and Owen Hart, became world- renowned celebrities. Owen's life was cut short in a tragic pro- wrestling stunt in May 1999. Stu Hart, 86, was hospitalized earlier this year after suffering from pneumonia and heart troubles. They had contacted promotions telling them they were no longer with the WWF and looking for bookings. It is understandable they would want to leave, and the assignment to OVW for men of their experience was likely a nice way of hoping they would quit. Seeing the options, I can understand them from a business standpoint sticking around and taking their downsides. Goldberg was quoted as shunning WWF wrestlers for not showing up. What class. Goldberg talks extensively about the Ground Zero visit on his Website Goldbergbook.com. "I've never been so sad, yet happy at the same time being able to do what we did here today," Goldberg said after his visit. "Through such tragedy, we're finding that the American people are coming together. We experienced that today. Everyone we shook hands with, everyone we bonded with … we kind of felt their pain; we kind of took them away from the pain for that one short second, for that one short moment. Hopefully we helped them forget about what's going on. If we could take them to a different place, per se, even for a short moment, so their mind was off the attack, we did our jobs." The interview went 60 minutes and in it Buff talked about the demise of WCW, his split with the WWF, heat with Triple H, his altercation with Shane Helms, the rumors of his heat with Steve Corino, the MECW promotion and a whole lot more. This is an interview that you definetly want to check out. Below are a few samples from the interview. Jason: We've had plenty of discussions the 2 of us and I've always told you, whether somebody likes you personally or not, it's all about business and if that means that the WWF can make money by having Buff Bagwell on the roster, to me it's a no brainer. Unfortunately, sometimes ego's get in the way and rumors start flying and in your opinion, why do you feel you're no longer part of the WWF? Buff: To be totally honest with you, we were the first wave to come in and there was a lot of names but just calling a spade a spade, there was only 3 major names they brought in. They were Booker, Dallas Page and myself. The rest of the guys were guys that can be stars and probably will be stars but were not stars yet. So really you only had 3 big names so you're talking about here's your Stone Cold's, your Kurt Angle's, your Kane's, your Undertaker's, that have made this company and then all of a sudden here we come? We're going to step on their grounds? You know what, I don't blame them. I really don't blame them for being a little bit worried and it's not like I'm going to take their job away, cause those guys are stars. It's just the point that, they weren't here when we made this thing, so why are they coming to us now? You know why they're coming to us? Cause they've got to come to us. Jason: When you were in the backroom and obviuosly there was some tension there with WCW talent coming into a WWF locker room after the 2 sides had been competiting for so long. Was there anybody who stood out that you just knew from day 1 that this guy's not going to like me no matter what. Buff: To be honest with you, everybody was kind of like that. Everybody would shake my hand and then walk off. I'd say to myself "Man, does he remember that we used to be friends 6 years ago?" Jason: In your opinion, why did WCW fail? What was the biggest factor? Buff: I don't think it was really nobody's fault. We had a disadvantage at WCW unlike WWF and that's what I mean by it was nobody's fault. You've got Ted Turner with the money and he doesn't really know about wrestling. How I always put it is, If your dad bought your first car for you. You took care of that car but, when you bought your own car for the first time, you realized you didn't take care of that first car as much as you took care of the car you bought. That's kind of how it was at WCW. Here's Ted giving the money out and we thought we were being good boys and everything was going good but really when you see the other side like Vince. Sometimes it worked great, like when WCW was on top with the NWO angle, at the time, they were booking as the show was going on. Sometimes, it didn't work, like when WCW was on the losing end with the long, dragged out NWO angle. The WWF has been doing short term booking for a while too, and it finally caught up with them a few months back when they were on their downturn. The WWF likes to sell a PPV on the one or two upper card matches. That's why for the longest time we always saw the same mid-cars matches like Angle/Benoit, Benoit/Angle, Regal/Jericho, Angle/Jericho, Jericho/Benoit, Benoit/Regal, Hardys/E&C, E&C/Dudleys, Hardys/Dudleys, E&C/Hardys/Dudleys etc.. The one thing I always commended Vince Russo on was selling the PPV on the whole card. Every match on the PPV was built up, not just thrown together in the last two television shows, and it wasn't always the same combination of wrestlers either. A lot of people criticize Vinnie Ru but don't understand how much he actually accomplished, since he left, D'Lo, Val Venis, Gangrel, X-Pac and even the Big Show have not been over with any character or even had stable TV time. Vince Russo had a TON of good ideas, the problem was that he also had a lot of bad ones. Mc Mahon was good at weeding out the garbage ideas and utilizing the genius ones. With such a over abundance of talent now, I believe that every match on Raw or Smackdown should have a purpose. Matches for PPVs should be built up a good two to three weeks before. People should know which matches are on the PPV rather than be surprised with Saturn/Raven because it wasn't an important angle. I remember how over the D'Lo/X-Pac feud was and it was just over the European title. How over did Helms and Matt Hardy get when they feuded over the Euro title a few weeks ago? Matt was the second longest reigning Euro Champ, did anyone even know he was the champ off the top of their head? Or did people have to think about it for a second or two? All I'm saying that workers don't necessarily have to be in the top two or three matches to be stars, if angles just receive the TV time they need, the fans will care. What is the purpose of a Shawn Stasiak/Billy Gunn match if they aren't on the PPV? You can use that time to further a lower card feud. Just imagine this scenario: Have Tazz leave the Alliance and work a lower card angle with Raven. Work that angle and further it on every RAW and every Smackdown for two months, with two spectacular PPv matches, those two would get over without a doubt. Both are very capable workers and have the character and chemistry to get each other over. I know they can. That's all for now kids, remain at the edge of your seat for next week's thoughts.
