(Nasdaq:JAKK - news) today announced that it has signed an agreement with Universal Studios Consumer Products Group to act as master toy licensee for Universal Pictures' action-adventure film, ``The Scorpion King,'' a spin-off of the worldwide box office hit movie ``The Mummy Returns.'' JAKKS Pacific will manufacture and market a line of toys inspired by the feature film, scheduled to be released on April 19, 2002. Finance ====================================================================== Comment//============================================================= Live Effects - By Rishi First off, I would like to send out my condolences to everyone who was affected at all by the recent trajeties in both Washington and New York. Hopefully we can all come together and pull through. It's been a long while since I wrote, when the Paywindah closed down, I was shocked, since then I haven't been able to write for the newsletter until now, I just started college this year and the shedule has been strenous, but now I'm back to fill your minds with all my clever anicdotes and useful opinions. Now onto the business on hand, which is pro-wrestling. My how it seems all so insignificant now, but anyway. I thought the Smackdown that aired a few days after the terrorist acts was a good idea. I know I'm among the only ones but that's what I think. The reason being it was a breath of fresh air. Everyone was down because of what happened and it was on every channel and every news story. Smackdown was a bit of a get away from it all, even though the show was also based around the news, they provided entertaining matches and we got to see different sides of a lot of WWF superstars. My favourite interview must have been Lance Storm's. What he said was true, everytime we step on a plane, we never know what could happen. We should always express how much we love those closest to us. The Pay Per View looks to be shaping up pretty decent. Nothing ground breaking or really exciting, but entertaining nonetheless. The matches are basically a continuation of Summerslam. This is a PPV to sit back and watch, beer in one hand...beer in the other hand, not to think and start predicting turns by superstars and twists in storylines, because it doesn't really look as though there'll be many, if any. I'm expecting Kurt Angle to pick up the WWF title, it's in his hometown and he did not pick up the title at Summerslam. Then again I think of the WWF's rumored plans to have Austin face Rock at Survivor Series with both belts being on the line, so maybe Austin retains. I'd rather see Austin retain and hold the belt until Survivor Sries than see him drop it to Kurt and pick it up again later on, I feel that would de-value the title if it was tossed around like that, especially since Rock would probably win in November since he did the job at Mania. I expect Rock to retain the WCW title in the handicapped match. To be honest, I wish Booker T would have retained the title at Summerslam and then droped it at this one. It would have built up Booker as a legitimate competitor rather than just a joke, and even given the title some credibility, showing WCW's top guy CAN beat the WWF's top guy. Everyone expected the Rock to pick up the victory at Summerslam, and in a way it was a good idea since the fans wanted it to be. They got screwed at Invasion when Austin turned heel and since Kurt didn't walk out as champ at Summerslam the fans still went home happy with the Rock being WCW champ. I'm really looking forward to Edge v.s Cristian. I hope this angle continues at least until Royal Rumble, it has so much potential. I also hope Cristian doesn't get the raw deal in this angle like I'm expecting, I can just see him ending up lost in the shuffle, in that light-heavyweight division. I want Cristian's entrance theme to get air time damnit!! I hope Kronik pick up the WCW tag titles for one simple reason. They are the only team who haven't been tainted by the Taker/Kane duo. Every team(E&C, Hardys, Dudleys, Kientai, and other singles combinations) has been beaten or squashed by the team. The thing I don't understand with Undertaker and Kane is how they get so much. They don't sell, they don't lose and always get gold. If Kronik loses, then they too will just be another team on the roster. The two matches I'm looking forward to are Rhyno v.s Tajiri and Saturn v.s Raven. Both these matches have not really been built up but absolutely have the potential of being great matches on the card. Maybe Saturn'll hit his head again and start acting like a potato. Of coarse everyone is salivating over RVD v.s Y2J, I know I am. Even though RVD has been gaining so much popularity, I really want Y2J to pick up the victory here, he needs to pack em' in to be able to excel on the roster in the future. The 4 way tag match should be okay, nothing particularly special. I expect it to be entertaining and I expect some good wrestling in it too. I see the Dudleys retaining. I hope to see Tazz get involved at the PPV, maybe he can come out and say he's finally quit the Alliance and then chanllenge any member of the group. I want this angle of the Alliance dissing Tazz to go somewhere, I hope it leads to a substantial push for him.
