This wasn't a surprise, as his friends in the company were hopeful that he would come to the show and visit and eventually lay the groundwork for a potential return. Unless things have changed in the past two days, while Lawler does want to return and there are obviously those who both do and don't want him back, nobody was expecting a deal in the very near future. Word has it that Lawler's song Brian Christopher Lawler was backstage as well. Apparently he had a meeting with Jim Ross Source// Dave Meltzer, Dave Scherer ====================================================================== RATINGS//============================================================= Raw drew a 4.8 Nielson Research Rating (7 share), according to sources with access to the ratings. That is up 0.2 from the rating it drew the last two weeks and equal to what it drew three weeks ago. The first hour drew a 4.7 and the second hour drew a 4.9. It peaked with a 5.1 rating during the second half hour, and ended wiht an overrun rating of 4.8. After opening with a 4.2, the rating ranged between 4.7 and 5.1 the rest of the show. *Excess drew a 0.7 rating, down 0.1 from last week. *Smackdown last week drew a 3.6 rating. Same as the rating the week before. *Heat and Tough Enough were preempted. ====================================================================== News from the WWF//=================================================== -The smarts of a wrestler has always been questioned by the major media. In an interview currently at Slam! Wrestling, Chris Jericho puts that to rest. Given the fact that DTV held about 20% of the PPV buys the WWFE received, the WWFE may be forced to make a deal if this weekend's PPV buyrate is terrible. This is what cable analysts predicted woudl happen. WWF videos held eight of the top 20 spots, including nos. 2-5. The top selling video was the NBA's 2001, ECW Hardcore History placed no. 18, down from no. 13 last week, its fourth week on the charts. NBA, NFL, NASCAR, Dan Marino, Tony Hawk, Golf, and Michael Jordan videos also placed in the top 20. -Missy Hiatt appeared briefly on the Howard Stern E! Show Monday night. The main guest was Gene Simmons. Missy was identified as a wrestler formerly with WCW. Missy discussed having previously met Gene, and procuring her girlfriends for him. She mentioned her book in passing. There was some speculation in the room that Missy was really a man. Missy's friend Tracy Taylor (also identified as a wrestler) was with her. Tracy was encouraged to have sex with Gene, but was less than enthusiastic. -Buff Bagwell is having a video question and answer session at his website, www.therealbuff.com, this Friday. -In his weekly Philadelphia Daily News wrestling column, Michael Tearson looks at who will possibly be the breakout stars once the WWF splinters the Alliance into a separate group. He also lists the wrestlers who appear to have been 'lost in the shuffle' as of late.
