The reason being is that many major markets missed Smackdown due to the pre-emption for news coverage on the recent terrorist attacks. -Heat from New York has been cancelled for Sunday. -Chris Jericho has updated his latest commentary which deals with the recent tragic events in the US. Stone Cold Steve Austin came down to the ring and started ripping on the crowd. He challeneged anyone to a WWF Title match when The Rock came out to a huge pop. So they ended up fighting approximately a 15 minute match - they even went backstage at one point. Austin hit the Stunner but The Rock kicked out. The Dudleyz then came out and helped Austin, causing the DQ win for The Rock. After the match, The Rock cleaned house with several Rock Bottoms. The Rock then wouldn't give Austin his WWF Title belt back, so he made Austin beg and cry for it. Austin then received another Rock Bottom for his troubles, as the show ended. It has been a challenging week for all Americans. Tuesday's cowardly attack by gutless terrorists on thousands of innocent men, women and children will never be forgotten or forgiven. I truly hope that the families of the victims will someday soon be able to take a deep breath and begin the healing process. These terrorists apparently claim that what they did was in the name of God and religion. I am no expert on religion, but I do not feel that any God would condone slaughtering innocent human beings for any reason. President Bush, along with other political leaders, have encouraged us all to attempt to get back to normal, as soon as possible, with our everyday lives. I agree. We cannot allow these barbaric animals to think for one second they can bring us to our knees and keep us there. It is in this spirit that we decided to air SmackDown! live Thursday night. Normally during the NFL season, I watch Monday Night Football, and tape Raw for viewing the next day. I can honestly say I have no desire to watch it or Smackdown tonight. (Nice one Vince-That's two strikes) As you know, a horrific act of war was perpetrated on the United States on Tuesday September 11th at 8:48 EDT. And to be quite honest, wrestling is the furthest thing from my mind. I do have a few observations to make, and I will try not to say too much, because I am consumed with nothing but hatred and anger. Watching the whole experience was surreal. I was on the internet when the first plane hit the World Trade Center. I was getting ready to shut the machine down when Yahoo had a headline "World Trade Center Hit by Airplane!" I went to my TV, expecting a story about some goofy pilot who had a braincramp. Needless to say, I got a hard dose of reality when I saw the second plane hit the center. I couldn't believe what was unfolding before my eyes. It looked like a series of bad scenes from a Tom Clancy movie. I honestly can say that I haven't been the same since. I have TV access at my work, and all I can think about besides taking care of business is "What's going on in NY and DC?" I know many of my peers at the newsletter have expressed their feelings, but I also want to throw out my heartfelt wishes to the victims of this heinous crime. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I also want to send a shout out to not only the writers, but the readers of this newsletter as well to rally around the fallen; to show support in this time of great despair. It can be as simple as praying for the victims and their families, or displaying an American flag in your car or home. Or maybe donate blood, or food and supplies. A local store was taking food and supplies donations, and I emptied my pantry. When I got there, I couldn't believe how many people were there, donating food, bottled water, flashlights, blankets, etc. This is the indomitable spirit of America, and I was never more proud to be an American!! Just giving that food to the collectors made me feel good all over; that maybe, just maybe, one person can help to make a difference. And I will tell you one thing; and make no mistake about it; like some kids did in the 90's: IT'S COOL TO BE PATRIOTIC!! I also can't say enough about the brave men and women all over the country who are laying it on the line, or maybe have lost their life in the massive search and rescue missions both in DC and NY. You will never realize how much respect and admiration I have for all of you. We always joke about "civil servants", but when push comes to shove, these people are the real deal.
