Source// ====================================================================== Comment//============================================================= Linda's Thoughts I can only speak for myself as far as last night's Smackdown goes, but it really was a welcome relief from what has happened this week. I wasn't sure I wanted Smackdown to be on or for that matter if I wanted to watch it. But I did watch it, and I'm glad I made the right decision. When I read the show would go on, I had faith in Vince that he would make us proud, and I definitely think he did. I'm going to keep this short, because I still find it very hard to talk about wrestling with all the sorrow going on in the country. By the way let me just say that when I posted my column Tuesday morning, most of it was done the night before, had I not written what I did, I never would have put out a column that day. I really felt bad after I posted, because I did not want to give an impression of being an absolutely cold and heartless person. What happened on Tuesday was and is far more important than just about anything else right now. All right as I said Smackdown for me was a breath of fresh air. I can't say my mind was totally off the tragedy, but watching the show did help. I'm reading so much criticism of the show, and of Vince's opening remarks. Of course everyone is entitled to his or her opinion that's what makes our country so great, but my opinion is Vince did a good job. His pep talk to America is maybe what I needed to hear, telling the fans that America doesn't live in fear and we will go on. Sure I thankfully didn't lose anyone in this horrific tragedy, so maybe for me it's easier to take in Vince's words, but I truthfully believe Vince was being sincere and not trying to give a performance. Seeing all of the WWF superstars and staff come out and stand with Lillian Garcia singing the Star Spangled Banner was just what I wanted to see. You could tell how touched so many on the ramp were by the responses they were getting from the fans in the arena. Lillian's singing was perfect as usual, and the tears falling from her eyes I think said it all. The matches were definitely put out there for entertainment. And again I felt a little more at ease watching each one. I wasn't looking for perfection, I just wanted to be entertained, and I think I really needed to see our guys and women just to know they were Ok. I give each and everyone of them credit for performing because I would imagine that their hearts were not into wrestling last night. Just like the great Tribute show that was done for Owen Hart, again last night we heard from individuals about their feelings of what has happened this past week. The pain and sorrow in their voices showed that wrestlers are human too. Of course you and I know that, but I hope the main stream media realizes it. The only problem I had was Stephanie's tribute. I don't really want to bad mouth any part of the show, but what she had to say just came off so poorly. Basically she was comparing this tragedy to a time when her family's reputation was being attacked. Her point was it made them all stronger. Frankly I don't see the comparison at all. She looked like she was taking it right from a script, nothing natural about it. But then who am I to say how she should act at a time like this? I guess what she was trying to get across is that American's are just going to be more united and stronger from all of this. I just wish she would have said it in a much different way. Anyway the first step was taken last night to try to get back to some normality, and I think it was a very positive first step. Still, I don't know about all of you but the days just seem to get harder and harder, and I would imagine that it will be take a long time before anybody feels like they used to. I will not do a column Sunday, but look for me on Tuesday when I'm back doing my Raw review. I wish you all a very safe weekend and again my thoughts and prayers go out to all the people who have lost someone or have somebody missing or injured. ====================================================================== Remember...=========================================================== -Remember that if you've missed any TV Shows, PPV's or more?
